Answers for a term paper

i am a 36 year old father of 2 girls putting himself through night school to get a college degree.

in my current sociology class we have to do a paper in an interview style of a culture, subculture or group that we know nothing about and are interested in.

i decided to find out about jehovah witnesses.

Hi, Jason. Welcome. The only question I have the energy to answer is: Do you have doubts about the religion.

I stopped being a witness about five years ago. For 30 years, I really believed in it, even when I felt I couldn't live up to it. I did have some doubts about the modern-day prophecies and a particularly upsetting Question From Readers article in their publications. Published in the 70s, it was regarding a wife who wondered if she could divorce her husband because he was having sex with men. The answer was that no, she couldn't, because he wasn't sleeping with women. Man, that really went against the grain with me. But, I stuck with the religion thinking that Jehovah would bring them new light on this subject, which he did.

After walking away from the religion, I am convinced that I was in a cult and brainwashed. So, I have come to doubt the religion as even being a religion. It's a money-making business cult.

How's that?

i have sequins glued to my forehead, paint on my legs, and various craft articles strewn about me.

i think i may have sewn some ribbion to my shorts...*spins in a circle to check*.

Well, they are a pretty basket weave design. Because I'm not good at weaving, this was the next best thing. They say that crazy people should learn a craft, so this is the one I do. So There!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUEENIE home from HOSPITAL !!

yes everyone i am home from the hospital after a 3--1/2 week stay due to veineous leg ulcers...as a diebetic it takes forever to heal..now another 3 month rest...no line dancing no dancing at all..in a few minutes i have been instructed by lisa to lay down and put up my feet 4 a while...i have been sitting up long enough...now i need to take a nap...i will compose something as to my stay it was an experience to say the least...i missed you all..i am addicted to this site !!!

The Elder That Wanted To Disfellowship The Dead

i mentioned about the elder that masturbated in another post.

this same man at the elder's school, felt that the appropriate course to take against a person that committed suicide was to disfellowship him.

when he was questioned about the reason, he felt that the person, no doubt, committed a sin against the spirit.

Whats more tramatic Divorce or leave org?

Divorce was way much harder for me. I guess relationships are more important to me than making all those meetings and doing my best to get ten hours of field service under my belt per month. I didn't have any family in the religion, so they were happy for me when I got out, it was sort of like a reunion. I'm more at ease being myself now.

But, ahhhh, the divorces. The first one came after seven crappy years of marriage and leaving off being a jw would have been more traumatic at the time. I was stupid so I married his best friend, twice. We divorced twice. I really loved the second guy, though our marriage was pretty crappy, too. Both divorces with my second husband were like being punched in the stomach. We stayed friends until he married a poor, unsuspecting jw pioneer. Then, I was cut off. That hurt a whole bunch, too.

The Elder That Masturbated

years ago, at an elder's school, the subject of secret sins and masturbation was discussed.

the instructer mentioned how "secret sins" could affect the spirit of the congregation.

when the subject of masturbation was"handled", a brother decided to put his hand up to "confess".this was obviously not meant to be a question and answer discussion, but the co called on the elder.

Hey You_Know....er....Know_You, that's nice that you bring up the Catholic priests. Let's talk about them for a minute. Have you been listening to the news about all the little boys that they have been molesting? Isn't it amazing that jw elders are well known to be serial, unrepentent molesters?

clearly there is a lot of hate still lingering among many exjw's.

my coming to these boards about a year ago was an intersting and a growing experience.

i have learned a lot and it has helped me to feel even better about my decision to leave the wt.

Kelsey, I just returned from a play (I ushered and got to see Adoration of The Old Woman free! A very good play about a girl going back to her roots in Puerto Rico.) and tried again to e-mail you. It's still not working. Are you sure you deleted and trashed your e-mails?

Demons Anyone?

never was a jw, and am fascinated by the demon stories .

can anyone verify that demons are currently/today talked about??

i guess they just sound dated, perhaps from growing up years, say 20 years ago?

I had one experience that I perceived as being the demons. I was living in Tennessee at the time (don't know why I should mention this-haha). I was doing door-to-door preaching work and an elderly woman came one door. She had a very strange and scary smile on her face. Her eyes were pretty scary, too, like she knew something. I can't explain it.

Anyhow, I go into my little speel and the wind chimes hanging on her porch start clanging up a storm. It was so loud that I couldn't hear myself talking. I would stop and the chimes would stop. I would attempt to talk and the chimes would go crazy. I ended up just smiling and walking away. Of course, she didn't want the literature. The jw I was in service with said that it was very strange because there wasn't even a breeze to cause the chimes to move like that.

do they still make family movies?

it look like things that get produced these days by holyywood filled with f word, sex, violence, drug use and hurling.

no movies hardly to take your kids to or that a christian can watch.

The Bible Story that I wish they would make into a movie is the one where Daddy protects the angels from the sex-starved men outside and sends his daughter out to them. Of course, she is killed and Daddy cuts her into pieces and mails her different parts to people.
