  Should you write to the society?

  when someone comes across something in the "truth" that disterbs them should they write to the society or is this pointless?.

  i think they should write for several reasons.. 1.you must give them at least a chance to present their side of the story.it is no good just relying for others for your information you can not be shure what the society really belive until you hear it from them yourself.. wasn't just relying on the judgement of others part of what got you in in the first place.. its good for us to try and advance in our way of thinking during life and part of this involves doing our own research which is not complete until we go to the source of our conflict.. also if you bring up the point with someone it gives more weight to your argument if mention you wrote to the society and this was their answer.. 2. the more poeple that write in with the same points the more difficult it will be for them to hold to an erroneous stand.. the more different people that write the more ways of expresing the point will be heared different ways will make sence to different people.. remember its not just the same person answering all letters but different people who will have to do research an answer your point, which could make them think.. (this assumes that the society is genuinely mistaken and not corupt, although it could be a bit of both).

  of cource if you do not want hassle off your elders dont tell the society you are a brother/sister or just give a different name ,prehaps you could give the address of your place of work or somewhere else if you don't want to be traced easily.. in my case i just made it sound like i was an intrested person.. or you could make out that you need some help in presenting the societies case to an intrested person who has quetions.

  I would be willing to bet that before the Society uses a brother or sister for the job of reading and answering these letters that they must put them thru a special coarse to teach them how to read these letters and not get deprogrammed.

  I wounder how many who have this job still feel it's the truth, and how many have eventually left the ORG.

  When I was a JW I wrote the Society and got a run around for an anwer.

  They will give you some council to do things their way.

  More than 5 yrs ago I was on a tour in Paterson Bethel and because my wife had kinda influencial freind their we got a special tour of the writting dept(for answering letters).

  If I remember correctly they had several sister that would work under one brother and these sisters would read the letters and put them in certain catagories. We got to see and read some of the letters even though we were not supposed to. There were several brother with several sisters working under each brother, in this dept.

  If I remember correctly, I asked if they had standard form letters for certain types of topics, and the sister said yes. I think the sister do alot of the answering of the letters and the brothers just check up on them.

  Thank Noidea for not taking me the wrong way.

  Yes I do have children or should I say raise two children of which I am not the natural father.

  And I agree with you as to how a parent should raise their child and that shunning is something evil as done in the Org. I have a sister(fleshly) who got preagnant at 14 and was not even baptized, but in those days they would disassociate you anyway, and she was.

  It was not a good thing, it didn't help her, it only made things worse for her.

  I guess when I hear people talking about unconditional Love I won't take it to mean it in the absolute sense because thats what I think they really mean(not total absolute unconditional).

  Anyway I have learned over the years that people that talk about how great their love is, well lets just say "it's only words" so I don't put much stock in those type of words.

  I find that the people who are really loving have joy in doing it and don't need to tell every they are, it's to self severing.

  These poor victims I feel Jane Doe is a very very smart and good person.

  To say I forgive you to that persons face will do more good for her than we can realize.

  I was just going back over what I posted and was hoping I didn't discourage anyone.

  I feel love needs to be as free of conditions as posible and I repeat as free as posible.

  And I feel a parents love needs to be as stong as posible, again strong as posible.

  Love for our husband or our wife needs to be as strong as posible.

  Shunning the JW way is a direct assault on what real love is.

  But when we proclaim our love as unconditional then maybe we don't really grasp the meaning of what unconditional really is.
  Because it is not posible. We can only try to be unconditional in our love but no one can rightly claim that he is.

  I'm just saying we all show conditional love.

  We can brag and brag about how unconditional are love is but it's all BS.

  You prove your love over time and events talk is cheap.

  I don't trust people who talk about how great their Love is(I don't believe they are really honest with themselves).

  Love is talked about alot, and we can point to ourselves and stick our chest out so what, prove it don't talk about it.

  I don't even think their is such a thing as unconditional Love.

  Anybody who says they have it for this or that is deceiving himself.

  Anyway it is imposible to prove that one has unconditional Love?

  I dare anyone to prove they have unconditional Love? Its just a lot of big talk that leads to nothing.

  All love is conditional on some points that is a true fact of life.

  It's just that some put too many condititons on their Love and that what's wrong.

  Real love has conditions but they are alway in harmony with what love is.(not out of harmony).

  We need to keep learning what real Love is so we can live that way.
