The first one I remember was in 1967, we lived next to the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks in East Menlo Park. I was goofing around on the tracks that shift next to the Bay about a half mile north of the old Dumbarten Bridge and an approaching train caused the tracks to move and pinned my foot. As the train bore down on me I thought I was a goner. As the train engineer jammed on the brakes I was hysterical . At the last second I pulled my foot out of the shoe and fell back onto the rocks. Needless to say, I never did that again.
In 1969 a friend of my dad who had a fishing boat had invited us to go fishing with him that Saturday off the San Francisco coast. The day before my mother had a bad feeling about it and backed out. Late the next day, word reached us that his boat had capsized and his body and another companion washed ashore.
Many more close calls over the past 35 years, I try to forget them.

The Governing Body - Invisible and Impersonal
by truthseeker inthere used to be a time when one knew who the president of the watchtower society was, and with that in mind, one could sense some kind of leadership.
perhaps witnesses then, felt that "the society" was keeping up with jehovah's celestial chariot.
maybe you felt in the 80s and 90s that you had to keep "in step with jehovah's organization" because it was making bigger steps each year - and with each new release, maybe you felt "privileged" to be a part of the "spiritual paradise.".

The organizations' leadership has for decades cultivated and carefully perpetuated the notion that their conjecture and speculation on the scriptures is Jehovah himself revealing his will to the party faithful. .
Their power comes from the perception by the R/F that governing body/faithful slave = Jehovah. It's not them speaking but God .
Group photos of old men bent over and in wheelchairs would shatter the aura and mystery associated with the ' faithful slave'. Owning up to the authorship of their articles by signing their names as one would find in other literary works would do much to shatter the image they have so long cultivated.

What 'exactly' changed in Adam when he sinned?
by gumby inaccording to the dubs, and other faiths, adam was created with no defects of any kind.
he was created with no sin.
then adam sinned.

To me what changed was Adams relationship with the Father . As a result, he was not allowed back into the Garden to partake of the ' tree of life'. Had Adam remained faithful, no doubt he would at some point and time partook of it and live forever. This has always been my conclusion based on the turning sword placed at the entrance after the fall. Following that, then the slow deteriation of the physical body took place. This is just speculation but perhaps the fruit on the ' tree of life' contained some enzyme or gene that would cause his body to perfectly repair itself to prevent the deteriation of the once perfect human specimen.

Couldn't resist. Perhaps :
1) Shutting up the Kingdom: of the Heavens to mankind since 1935 by setting up an artificial date.
Mat. 23:13
2) Substituting themselves (GB) as the 'sole channel' between God and humankind instead of Jesus.
Gal.6:3, 1Tim 2:5
3) Guilty of Organizational Idolatry, substituting a billion dollar publishing corporation as ' the way, the truth and the life' instead of Jesus.
John 14:6, 2 Cor.11:15, 1 Cor.10:14,15
4) Cultivating dependence upon a myriad of books and magazines which elevates the opinions of men as divine revelations from God.
2 Tim. 3:16
5) False prophecy. Mat.24:11, Deut.18:20 need not get explicit do to the obvious.
6) Unscriptural 'Class' system imposed upon members. Acts 10:34
7) Substituting a pseudo 'Good News' in place of the 2,000 yr. old Gospel . 1 Cor.15:4, Gal.1:6-9, Col.1:5,6
8) Judging the millions of Christians in the world for having the false hope of putting faith in Jesus, wrongly believing they belong to him, and dare think of going to heaven, and oh no!, have not apostasized from their current belief system to be a JW James 4:12, Eph.4:4,
9) Ignoring Rev.22:18,19 (They have an exemption card)
10) To imply that Gods' Word and his Spirit are somehow impetent since 1914 and that Jesus set up an instrument for people to put faith in and obey for salvation in these last days.
11) Vilify ,label and shun anyone who realizes the above and exposes them for who they are.

What will the Watchtower do when all of the "annoited class" pass away ???
by run dont walk innow, i am referring to the group before the 1935 cut-off date, will it even matter to them, because they is still a lot of "replacements" around you have replaced those who fell away.. another question, "could someone die, be brought up to heaven to help rule, and fall away up there ???".
watchtower's "new light" hhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm.. or maybe another "new" heavenly class ???.
any thoughts .....................

Jesus said the end would be cut short for the sake of the 'chosen ones'. Since the ruling party has referred to themselves as the 'chosen ones' they will never die off. Otherwise they would have to recieve 'new light' and pass the brass ring to the 'Given Ones' and extend the title to the 'spirit appointed' class Allen

Two most important doctrines of JW's.
by Mr Bean in1. you will believe in the sacrifice of jesus christ.
2. you will believe in god's anointed, directed and inspired organization.. .
in case you are not sure, study baptismal questions.. .

I've always percieved the 2 most important doctrines by the society as:
1) The Bible and Gods' Spirit are no longer sufficient to adequately direct Christians after 2 melliniums, requiring a 3rd party aka...F/S
And the 2nd fits nicely into the first
2) Upon the closing of the Kingdom of the Heavens by Rutherford in 1935, they in effect denied Jesus' role as mediator to the rest of humanity thus substituting themselves as quasi mediators eg... sole channel God is using.
As a result of this 'coming into Jehovahs' organization' is substituted for belong to the Christ, his 'body' and thus the need to be baptized into the organization rather than into Christ. What had started out decades ago as a means has become the end for the pursuit of salvation in the religion.
This in my opinion, is Idolatry, pure and simple.

There was a group out in California, 20 or so years ago called 'Christain Prophets of Jehovah' that used to picket the Cow Palace. My mother in law was one of 'um. I didn't think much of it. She was quite delusional and paronoid.

Angie, thanks for the post, I remember reading many of these things a couple years ago when I first went online and have enjoyed reading these again, despite the small font size. I wondered about the NWT of Rom.14:7-9 for years because it defied common sense.
