For argument sake. Let's say I get 'caught' bringing up an erroneous teaching by the watchtower such as overlapping generation or 1914 and I'm brought before a 3 man tribunal and deemed 'an unrepentant wrongdoer' for questioning a false teaching. I'm now viewed as having 'left Jehovah' and excommunicated. So effective in silencing dissent ( real or imagined ) within the ranks, assaulting one's power of reasoning and destroying one's reputation in one swoop. Spiritual battery I say.

Interesting Take on Vows

so yesterday was the wt on vows.. it spoke, in part about two vows.

the vow you make in dedication and the vow of marriage.

here's how it describes them.. the most important vow that a christian can make is the one with which he dedicates his life to jehovah.

It's been awhile since I've posted, but I have to comment on yesterday's watchtower. Dedication vows and 'living up' to that vow is NOT Gods' plan of salvation. It is not a Christian teaching. Neither is baptism a 'symbol' of a dedication according to all the scriptures pertaining to Water baptism and is not reflective of the baptisms in the book of Acts both by Jews and Gentiles.

The organization's leaders quote Jesus out of context at Matthew 5:33 with a snippet to give the impression Jesus supports making vows or swearing oaths. In verse 34 Jesus instructs his disciples NOT to. And the governing body knows that.Yet they persist in perpetuating falsehood. Christianity has nothing to do with vows or oaths that was practiced in ancient times.

A matter fact, Jesus concludes the matter in verse 37 that vows/sworn oaths originated with the wicked one.

The message is clear: If you are inactive and not attending meetings, you are a lost sheep. As a lost sheep, you have 'left Jehovah'. It is urgent that you return to the fold (organization) immediately. The Shepherd is waiting. His patience is limited by the fact that the Great Tribulation is soon to be upon us. Act now, before he sends his Son and Faithful Slave to eradicate you.

Baptism is it really a dedication to God, where in the Bible?

i haven't found a scripture where it says that baptism is a dedication to god.

i have only found in the book of acts chapter 2 i believe where baptism is for forgiveness of sins.

am i wrong?

Making a dedication, 'symbolizing' that dedication by Baptism and then "living up' to that dedication by carrying out the perfunctory tasks prescribed the organization is not a NT teaching. The Hebrew and Greek words for dedication are not present contextually in association with Baptism in any way.

just by looking at this image we can see how quickly the barrier between the congregation and former member is put up, after the announcement that this sister is no longer one of jehovah's witneses.

Instilling subliminal messages in commercial art goes back decades. One of my Sociology professors during the 70's gave us assignments combing the advertising illustrations in popular magazines to look for both overt and subtle things that had been painstakingly placed. One prime example, hard liquor ads. The ice cubes had been altered to resemble heads with eyes, noses and mouths. The majority would have 2-5 facial images per glass, often with the liquor at the level of the noses.

The Power Of "IF"

so, the whole may money grab episode of jwtv really looks bad to me and many others, obviously many here.

i was looking on another website dedicated to active jw's and if you'll notice on post number 109 a little ways down (<click there to read) a person named luca dares to express some concerns over the latest episode.

the following pages do contain one more person that has some issue with how things were presented.

'if you look at it even with eyes of a JW with any thinking ability whatsoever, it is just appalling how much power they give the organization and in particular the FDS in their lives.'

Some are drinking the kool-aid awfully heavy:

'I've started watching the May 2015 broadcast, but not finished yet. It is so touching my heart! To think, that the organization needs our donations! What a privilege! It just shows how Jehovah is speeding up the work as we need more and more kingdom halls & branches. It really feels like people are flocking to the mountain of Jehovah in this time of the end.'

'I guess we'll have to dig a little deeper now and maybe start buying less fresh food and goodies! About the only thing we can cut back on now to help with kingdom interests is our groceries! We have already done things to ensure that we are keeping our eye simple. We've cancelled our cable TV and gone to just basic/local channels, and our internet speed to basic... but now seeing the videos on tv.jw.org is a bit choppy - it takes extra time to load and times out a lot. So maybe Jehovah will understand if we go back to a higher internet speed. It is something to pray about. We need the broadcasts to help keep us spiritually strong, so perhaps that can be part of our budget for "kingdom interests"!~

'We are prayerfully thinking about cancelling or cashing out some of our life insurance policies -- and using that to further the kingdom work. We know that Jehovah is speeding up the work and Armageddon can be here any day! '

Throwing a wrench in child baptism.

1 corinthians 7:14 tells us: "for the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.".

so the sanctification of children of "christians" depends on the holiness of their parents not the "baptism" of young children.
