i often wondered over the years what happened to a lot of the old posters from this group.
going back to the late 1990s a few of the names i recall...blacksheep, gypsywildcactus (i know she's ok as we're friends on facebook still), onacruise, minimus, veniceit, flower, prisca, bendrr, refinersfire, kent, englishman, shit...dare i say it evilforce lol, snittlesnacks (what a twat), scully, mouthy, talesin from nova scotia, xenawarrior.
littletom (from glasgow in scotland), outlaw, goaty, bisous, uncle brucey (australian character who loved his wildkife photography) - struggling now to remember more names.i know there are many more.
This site was a big part of my waking up process back when I joined in 2001. I still pop by once in awhile to see what the latest topics are.
Some people have passed away while others have moved on from their JW life and have gotten busy creating a new life for themselves. Some people like me have family still in so I keep tabs every so often on events in JW land.

I have been mentally and physically out for years now.I sucessfully faded and both of my kids are not Witnesses. Leaving the JW's was a major factor in my marriage failing and strained relationships with my family that are still in.
Anger and resentment are still present regarding the WT Society. I think to some degree it will always be there especially since I have family that are still in. That being said I am moving on with my life and it is looking up. I finally feel like the real me. I am not living by rules created by old men in Brooklyn or what is printed in the WT.

i have always loved heavy metal music (thrash metal to be more specific).
since heavy metal is usually associated with satan and occult themes many christians and jws in particular stray away from it.
in my teenagehood i was listened to it obsessively until i started studying and got baptized at age 18 and i started listening to other genres.
I love hard rock/metal. Five Finger Death Punch and In This Moment being two of my favorite bands. When I was a teen my Dad used to go through my music and toss the stuff he didn't approve of. Some stuff I managed to hide but but he would sometimes locate my hidden stash. I must have purchased Hysteria at least a half dozen times.
I remember getting busted playing Def Leppard in the Kingdom Hall. I was cleaning the carpets in the hall and had it cranked up pretty loud as the carpet cleaner made a racket. I of course got busted and reamed out by the elders.
I also blew one of my 6x9's while out in field service. Good times :)

i am very interested in hearing from people who really think that people with tattoos are somehow weird or cagey individuals.
i would just like to get your outlook on this matter.
today i was in a grocery store and i sawe this guy with his two kids and his wife shopping.
I am in my early 40's and I have a couple of tattoo's. To me they are very personal and I have no regrets at getting them done. On women I find them sexy if they are tastefully done. It is becoming more of an accepted norm where I live and work. I have my kids names on a heart over my chest and a dragon on my arm. Both have deep meaning to me and yes there is a story behind both.

I'm an ex MS and RP. I have sucessfully faded and have no wish to ever step foot in a Kingdom Hall again. Used to post here years ago and stopped for a long time. I have recently started reading posts again and have been visiting the site on a regular basis to read up on the latest news in JW land.
did any of you 'come out' about the ttatt from a platform, whether at the meeting, assembly, or convention?
what did you say / do, and what happened?.
I remember we had a visiting speaker from another congregation visit to give the Public Talk and he was ushered off stage about 15 minutes or so into the talk. I was a kid at the time and knew that something funny was going on as the congregation starting whispering and the P.O and another elder came up the stage and each grabbed an elbow and removed him from the platform. Exciting stuff for a small town. Wish I could remember more.
