Why not just tell them to please leave you alone. Tell them that you no longer want to be a part of the religion. be honest...

I'M A NEWBIE! My story...
by terafera ini just came across this site not too long ago and have been reading the stories.
i am filled with relief and at the same time frustration mixed with tears, because i have been holding my story in and not sharing it with anyone, except my husband.
i have felt many of the feelings expressed here but was afraid to say them out loud for fear of being an 'apostate'.

Well TRC, they only believing in recieving communion once a year and that is on the memorial of jesus' death and then only the ones that are annoited are suppose to partake. It is a huge deal.
Yes they turn in time once a month. It is like the pharisees proclaiming themselves in front of men, kinda sick? And yes, being a JW was like being on guard all the time, never a break to breath or be yourself...It is crazy...:) Well anyway I am so glad I am out of the religion and free to be who I am and free to explore my spirituality....

Well i have never been in your situation, but I am bisexual and I know how hard it can be to come out to others. I still have people in my family that do not know. I think you have to live for yourself. You can still be there for your kids, but do not stay in a relationship that is not for you. It is hard to change things and be true to yourself. remember this. Accept yourself and others will accept you. Also remember you are beautiful child of the universe. :)

Thinking about....UU
by wonderwoman77 inwell all, i have done a lot of investigating in the last week about the uu and i am liking what i find.
i have talked to a member of one of the churches in my area and they have a class in january for new and prespective memebers.
it is a four week class where you discuss your religious journey to this point, learn about the churches history, learn about how the church in involved in the community and then the last one you can sign to be a member if you wish.

Well all, I have done a lot of investigating in the last week about the UU and I am liking what I find. I have talked to a member of one of the churches in my area and they have a class in january for new and prespective memebers. It is a four week class where you discuss your religious journey to this point, learn about the churches history, learn about how the church in involved in the community and then the last one you can sign to be a member if you wish. I am going to visit the church first, but I think I will do it and see if this is for me.
From what I have read, this church is very warm. They are located not too far from where I am. The movement as a whole seems open to allowing me to change my beliefs and grow spiritually. They consider themselves a no dogma religion, which impresses me.
Thanks for all of you who discussed these topics previously. I will let you know what happens.

i am 31 and have been "out" for an undetermined # of years...probably starting as soon as i moved out of the house at age 23. i just "drifted away".. i was born into the jw faith.
my parents remain devout and "zealous" to this day.

Thanks for sharing your story. I hope you will enjoy the board. I understand your experience in high school, I was like that most of my high school career, but my senior year I decided that I had enough pretending to be this shy little girl, because that was not me at all. I found friends, had fun and it was great. I had already decided I was going to college no matter what the JW said. I had quit playing sports because they told me and that was my passion, so I made education my passion. I went to college, but within a month I decided I was never going back to the org.
I hope one day you can go to college. There are ways. I hope you can find good counseling too. I went through 2 years in college. Good luck and welcome....
