there is a lot of threads going back and forth both ways, almost like a battle line has been drawn between believers and atheists.
however, let's just say for the sake of argument, that all religions including the witnesses, are wrong but the bible in itself is right.. everything that it has foretold is going to happen and just as god told noah, in 7 more days i am going to make it rain, but this time he now speaks to all of us and says in just 7 more days i will wipe the earth clean of all those who have or are revolting/disagree against me.. how would you react then?
how would you live your next 7 days?
I'd say " F!@#$%k you god, or jehovah, or whatever your mystical name is".
And then I'd walk away and enjoy the rest of my life, no matter how long it lasted.

before god began creating.......he wasn't a creator.. before god began creating.....there was nothing......and therefore nothing to know.. before god began creating...there was nothing and nothing to know....and therefore nothing to love.. before god began creating...he was alone with nothing to distinguish him from nothingness except--what?
his mind?
filled with what, actually?.
Terry,
"Man created God". I totally agree. And I like this topic you brought up.
This reminds me of the infinite-regression question of Who created existence? And who created the creator of existence? And who created the creator of the creator?, and on and on and on ..., ..., ...
While a jw I was never able to resolve that question in my mind. But my own personal opinion now is that existence simply exists and has always existed. For me no alternative is possible unless I were to accept the contradiction that at one time, existence did not exist. For me that is a contradiction.
Just my opinion. And thank you for starting this topic. It is very interesting to read various thoughts on this subject.

do the members of the governing body and the president of the organization believe in the religion or are they in it for power in money
i wonder are they a cult for their idiotic, dangerous and souls sucking practices or are the a cult because of their idotic, dangerous and soul sucking practices along with them being money groveling, power mongers
"Do the gb believe in the cult religion?"
No. They don't.
Some of them may have at one time "believed", but the reality is that when all religious "leaders" get to a certain point in their religions, if they didn't realize it earlier, they realize the beliefs being perpetuated are not true and that they are just easily taking advantage of the vestiges of the bicameral mind ( Dr. Julian Jaynes"The Origin Of Consciousness In The Breakdown Of the Bicameral Mind"), that still exist more or less in each of their followers. Knowing this, religious "leaders" like the gb continue to try and perpetuate their control over people because of the lazy, easy, life style that they benefit from: Not having to "work" or really even "think" about how to make a living, and not having to be concerned about where funds to pay bills will come from. Furthermore, they can travel the world whenever they want to with the money from the congregations, and be on virtually perpetual vacations. And there are other factors that can be discussed I'm sure.
And when religious "leaders" such as the gb go against their own writings and supposed laws and doctrines, as has been shown by just about all who are part of this discussion boards and the many other ex-jw discussion boards, that in itself shows that they don't believe their own teachings, but that those teachings are nothing but a way to control people with the objective of perpetuating and enjoying their easy, lazy lifestyle, even if it means covering up pedophilia and other sexual crimes, unjustly removing elders who stand up for what is right, or disfellowshipping those who question things.
I know from my own personal experience, as well as the experiences of others whom I have met, that half of the gb still living and the other half who have died since 2000, all went against the wt's own teachings and letters and the "bible" to commit and/or support various acts of evil. And I'm sure that just about everyone here has either experienced that personally, or knows of someone who did.
When you integrate all the things that have happened over the entire history in the wt, especially since Rutherford, and the things that continue to happen, the answer is no.
The gb does not believe in their own cult religion.

with the public talk being shortened, the "members only" wt, and the bombshell in the sept.km comming up, i was wondering:.
has the society given up hope of bringing in new ones in affluent countries (with the exception of the foreign language field)?
are they thinking that they have to hover around those already "in", and not lose them because, now that they have access to info on the internet, new ones are just not going to "buy" the message?.
I have to agree with the comments on damage control and the probable selling of kingdumb halls. I have noticed that recently here in the metropolitan NY area, specifically Jamaica Queens and Brooklyn, a number of longtime 1 story halls have been renovated into 2 story multi-halls that look like little palaces and the property around these halls nicely cleaned up with new landscaping. I feel that the wt is preparing these properties to get the best price they can for them in the future and later for the drones who attend these halls. In addition to that, in recent months a number of congregations in this area have been disbanded and the drones were directed to just go to other congregations.
As for the Sept km, well, as has been mentioned already somewhere in the threads about this: "the more they tighten their grip, the more who will slip through their fingers." And no matter if the time period is longer or shorter, their 'arrogance' is one of the things that 'will be their downfall.' As is being demonstrated.

I am so glad that Barbera Anderson has published this information. I have ordered my copy of the CD-ROM. While I will wait to see what the plans are to publicize this information, I do plan to inform people of its content in any way I can. As some of you who were on this forum since 2000 may know, my niece was molested on 3 occasions by one of the evil men in her congregation in California when she was about 4 or 5. This is another pedophile case that was covered up by the elders and the wt. When my sister, her mother, tried to pursue justice she was disfellowshipped. Up until now my niece has not been ready to try to pursue anything due to the emotional issues. But in the last couple of days I informed my sister of the news about this CD and she informed my niece. My sister then got back to me and said that with this latest news, my niece feels ready to pursue the wt for what happened to her.
I am sure that the publishing of this news will have the same effect on others who may not have pursued anything against the wt yet. therefore the tireless and courageous publishing of this information by Barbera Anderson will probably have even more benefits: The beginning of even more lawsuits against the borg.
Thank you Barbera Anderson and all others who were a part of this project.

i'm a fake publisher.
i turn in a fake field service report.
i claim fake hours.
Metatron,
Good post. My ex-wife who was and still is a pioneer, faked field service time all the time. Most of her "time" was spent writing letters at home in front of the TV. And I'm talking about hours and hours from morning to noon to evening. What a fake ministry. I used to just sheake my head at her.

i just stumbled across this - very fascinating reading.
i had never heard of this group, but just another example of how fundy/world-renouncing religions have the same core spirit.
my comments are in red.
DanTheMan:
Thanks for this information. I had never heard of this cult before. This is really interesting.
I also read a book entitled: "Twisted Scriptures" by Mary Alice Chrnalogar. this is another book that shows how so many so-called religions and ministries are just like the jw cult. After I read it I had to call the author and personally thank her for writing that book.

Francois,
Thanks for that advice on my divorce. A record of all of her bank accounts is one of the things i have requested on the compliance order. I had to fire my attorney because she was not representing my interests and she was lying to me about some matters. So now I am representing myself. 'Pro Se' as it is called.
But thanks for reminding me to be sure I push for those records. You are probably right. She just might try to hold back and if she does I will charge her with contempt of court. Thanks for the encouragement. Any other advice? It will be appreciated.
