when i was a senior in high school, the principal called me in to her office to ask why i'd missed repeated deadlines to turn in my applications for colleges.
i went to a school for brainiacs, and was above average there--yes, i was a geek among geeks.
the principal asked me if it were a question of finances.
At least there are other people just like me, just as f*cked up as me
Oh, I think you're on a bulletin board FULL of them...
It takes a while to get over.
I'll go beat some sense into your past self if you'll go beat some sense into mine.
Think it'd help? More persecution might just cement our beliefs...[8>]
Guess I'll just have to keep working on those who can be spared some of the idiocy I went through...

question.......from the stand point of the wtbts would it have been wiser to spread out their judicial notifications say over a couple of months or more?
ie.. bill bowen in january, barbara anderson in march etc.
*shrug* - well, it's been their strategy since day 1, and they have 6 million members now, so...
I'd say there are more suckers out there than you give credit for.

Yeah, but I was WRONG - not them. Yeah, I was 'different' - but only because my parents taught me that I was SUPPOSED to be different.
What was it they kept telling me? '...and the world hated them, for they were no part of the world...' meaning that if the world DIDN'T hate you, you were doing something wrong...
If I didn't keep preaching ('informally') to them about how their religions were lying to them and their parents were lying to them and how they were all going to die if they didn't repent....

Oh, no. I wasn't implying anything of the kind. If nothing else, it is a grab to tighten the grip on its members. You know, 'look how our prophecies are being fulfilled, yay us, quick, come back to the fold before the big A!'.
I don't honestly believe anyone in the GB actually believes what they teach.

most people are familiar with the account of job where satan makes the claim that the only reason humans serve god is because of selfish reasons.
god allowed satan to test this theory on job, so job was beset by numerous trials but he refused to give up on god or blame him in anyway.. it would appear that satan was proved wrong in this particular bible account but was he really?
would the majority of mankind follow jobs example if they were faced with similar trials?
You know what's funny?
I wonder what religion the world will have in another couple millenia. Say, 4002.
Too bad I'll not remember this life then. It'd be funny to see what the archeologists of the future think of the christianity movement. Would they give it any more credit than the Druids got? The Greeks or Egyptians? Mayans? Or just be dismissed entirely as an interesting footnote in history?
It's an interesting point that Christianity to date has produced no lasting monuments to testify to its pervasiveness. No Stonehenge. No Sphinx. Maybe the cathedrals will last to testify to what once was...

apostate khan simply wanted to walk away from the jw religion.
however, elder kirk and his fellow elders wanted to see apostate khan suffer.. they pursued him until apostate khan was forced to take action and fight for his beliefs.. the saga continues... .
.
You've heard the secretly recorded MP3 of Elder Kirk and Elder Spock in the 'judicial committee', right?

If I didn't know better, I'd swear they were on our side.
LOL!
With enemies like them, who needs friends?
Keep in mind folks, they WANT to be persecuted. They WANT to be called in front of the worldly governments (especially after the worldly governments have 'turned' on the other religions of the world).
Self-fulfilling a prophecy isn't funny. Mark my words - that's what they're up to here. I might be wrong, but I can't believe an organization so big that has done such legal maneuvering in the past could possibly be so astonishingly stupid.

a friend sent this to me this morning.
i know this kind of e-mail is circulated a lot, and maybe this one has, but i have not seen it before.. as one of jehovah's witnesses i would have simply ignored the message in this e-mail.
now as an ex-jw i see it in a totally different way.
And to the 'religion doesn't matter, it's the message' people...
Read through the passage again. Replace every instance of 'bible' with, say, 'book of shadows'. And, every instance of 'christian' with 'pagan'. And every instance of 'Jesus' with, I dunno, 'Hecate' or something. Etc.
Does the story still sound as nice and sweet to you? If it was about a crazy homeless pagan spreading his religion around?
Or, what if he was distributing the Koran because Allah was giving him messages? And his shirt read 'Allah Akbar!' Still getting a warm fuzzy over it?

We never know what kind of person is behind the image of a "bum" it could be a very interesting and unusual story.
Yeah, but how many bums you know? The ones we get around here are...generally amicable...but crazy as a nuthouse.
Most burned out on acid or something and are completely out of touch with reality.
Not saying they are bad people - just that this story's message of 'don't judge based on first impression - why not give someone a chance' is fraught with danger.
There is a reason why, when you look at someone, you immediately get a first impression. It is an evolutionary reaction every animal has. It's what let our species get as far as it has - by not trusting someone or something that doesn't LOOK trustworthy.
If I was feeling particularly generous, I might direct him to the local homeless shelter. But, I wouldn't count on it.
