Persecution - MWUHAHA...

after reading latte's post on jahh's thread, it seems that the dubs are going full-bore into their good old duck and hedgehog style of crying "persecution!!!!!

" as soon as it looks like they're being exposed.. dateline, apparently, was persecution.

Business? What business? I never got anybody to 'donate' for the mags. In the US the mag pub business works as follows:

1) Talk given detailing how much we should donate for literature items

2) We order, then pick up literate items

3) We 'voluntarily donate' to cover the 'costs of printing'

4) We then try to get the householder to take the literature (they don't) and the donate to the org (they won't)

Public negative view of the WTBTS won't hurt them at all - it's the publishers funding the org, not the public.

So...how to get UN NGO book

i know i've seen reference to the un ngo listing document somewhere.

as i recall, the '2002' edition was published before the wtbts withdrew from the un, such that they were still listed in it.

now, my family (all good jws) are insisting we come over for my mom's anniversary and i'm, like, 100% sure they are planning on bringing up our recent very obviously anti-jw behavior.

" as soon as it looks like they're being exposed.. dateline, apparently, was persecution.

I still have that 'gut feeling' this whole thing has been a setup. They KNEW the 1914 timeline would fail eventually (the GB obviously knows everything they've been spewing about it is BS) - they needed a 'plan B' to keep people coming to meetings.

Public 'persecution' a la 'Great Tribulation' (tm) would fit the bill perfectlty. It certainly did the job in WW2.

Now, however, the general public doesn't get worked up enough over nationality. The whole blood issue isn't getting them enough publicity...what about using CHILDREN...

I mean, seriously, it's the only explanation that works. Unless you can honestly believe that the dozen or so men who rose to power in the org high enough to be appointed to the GB and rule a 6 million strong cult could be so stupid as to be either:

1) Completely unaware of the pedofile issue (ALL of them?!?! How long were they JWs before getting on the GB?!?!?!)

2) Sincerely hope it would just 'go away' (again - rose to power over 6 mil strong cult - no one could possibly be so conniving and still be to stupid - certainly not ALL of them).

It *would* make remembering the date wars started on a whole lot easier. All's you'd have to do is remember which month and year it was now - the day of the month would be a given...

yesterday, i was thinking about amazing's very insightful elder series.

today, i read dungbeetle's thoughtful post on culpability.

this led me to write about the elder situation from somewhat of a different perspective.

I think I agree with your analogy, and I think it highlights one of the greatest pitfalls in the org.

Paradise Earth;An interesting Question for JWs

if there is no aging in paradise earth,expail something to me.. one of the reasons we age and die is because the mitochondrial cells convert items(food???

) into energy,this produces free radicals/toxins which damage the cells,the cells have to produce these toxins to do their work.. in a paradise earth,how will the body produce the energy without damaging the body's cells.. i am interested in any answers.. .

Don't you know? We'll be made to be 'as the angels' - not having sexual desires. I mean, we KNOW no angels were ever seduced by the daughters of man, now where they? Couldn't be, after all - no sexual desire, just like the society teaches.

Or...wait....

Hmmmm...angels WERE seduced by 'daughters of man' so they obviously DO have sexual desires....{checks scripture again}....huh, the bible doesn't say anything about angels not having SEX - just not 'being married nor given in marriage'.

So, hey, how about that! THAT'S what the new system is about! Being 'just like the angels'!! Acting on sexual desires without needing marriage first!!! HURRAY FOR NEW LIGHT!!!!

No Future

i think it is sad how witnesses don't think future.

they don't save for a rainy day, don't plan for retirement, don't get higher education, alot are overweight, thinking why bother, don't worry about their health, etc.

and, have you notice, they almost try to get people to have low self esteem?

So....what you're saying is that you weren't a very GOOD witness, then?

Incidently, I agree they try and keep you down - not worthy to earn salvation, must be granted; humans are imperfect, we sin all the time; only approach god through elaborate series of channels; etc. HOWEVER - I would not say 'overweight' is so much the problem as simply eating disorders of all types. In all three halls I'd been to, I'd say about 75% of each was either WAY TOO FAT or ANOREXIC THIN. I stayed okay, though (see pic to left), as did quite a few still. (I got a bum shot to prove it, too....)

Now, my family (all good JWs) are insisting we come over for my mom's anniversary and I'm, like, 100% sure they are planning on bringing up our recent very obviously anti-JW behavior.

I'd like to argue my position with them some - and my wife thinks the UN issue is a good one - but they will completely ignore any information I find on the net (it's all lies, and all).

SO...I need to find a print copy of this information - book/brochure/whatever. My local library doesn't seem to know what I'm talking about, and I can't find anything on the UN site about such a publication.

Any suggestions?

Son's Birthday ... Video Game System?

this weekend will be my son's first birthday party ever.

we are really over doing it, but we are so excited for him.

he has had a n64 for about 3 years.

Well, I understand Morrowind has been ported to the XBox.

From what I've seen on it on the PC, I can make the following guess:

Morrowind + XBox = kid not leaving living room for rest of life

Whether that's a good or bad thing is, I guess, up to you.

Obviously, we will be 'restored' to our original silicon-based condition instead of the current carbon-based lifeforms everything is that needs corrosive oxygen to survive.
