Actually tacking doesn't have much to do with "changing" winds. It has to do with a wind that is not blowing in a favorable direction.

Of Tacking and New Light
by Gozz inthe subject of 'new light' holds some fascination for me.
and i have sought a wide spectrum of views to really understand the concept.
proverbs (4:18, i think) says the path of the righteous on gets lighter and lighter; pastor russel (or some very old literature)reaffirmed this inspired thought by stating that 'new light' never contradicts 'old light', only that it makes things clearer.

Platlets...can WTBTS policy be defended?
by joel inif this topic has been addressed already...sorry...just ignore it.... if not...i would like to hear from those who would defend this policy....or who see the inconsistencies in the views on blood but the wtbts.. .
the following is something i read on at another site.
there is no question that the watchtower's blood policy needlessly kills jw children.

I know this is an emotive subject, and certainly there are inconsistencies in the Organization's policies. One thing I have found interesting, and this is from non-JW sources, is that statistically speaking there is no difference in mortality and morbidity for JW patients and for patients from the general population. The only difference when you look at the overall picture is that Witnesses get out of the hospital 24 hours earlier.

One thing I have enjoyed about this board in contrast with some others is that generally speaking people are civil even when they disagree. For the most part they haven't felt compelled to insult someone elses intelligence or ridicule them. I hope that's not changing.

need help re 607 date
by hosebracket ini am new to this.. i have a problem.
someone on my ministry asked me about the date that we hold so dear....607 bce and asked me to prove it to them.
this would not be a problem i thought as the f&ds would have solid basis for using such a date.

horsebracket, you might get a copy of the book on Revelation by Tim LaHaye and Jenkins?, I think. The guys that are doing the "Left Behind" series. The book on Revelation is not a novel, it's supposed to be an explanation of the 'end times' as related to Revelation. At any rate, they list 607 as the date of Jerusalem's destruction. Interesting I thought, surprised me. I wonder how many others use that date. These guys are pretty mainstream, at least evangelically mainstream.

It will be very interesting to see how they deal with him. Trying to take judicial action because of his allegations would probably not go down well in the media. Looks like they are in a little bit of a cleft stick situation.
JT my impression of the guys on the Service Desk has not been very positive. I find them condescending and arrogant for the most part.
