  Only J.w's will survive the big A

  my question is,if it is true that only j.w's will survive then surely everybody on the planet should at least get the option of becoming a witness,but there are people living in remote parts of the world who rarely come into contact with civilisation,im pretty sure there are still small tribes of people living in some rainforest who haven't even been discovered yet,where do theses people fit in,do they just perish like the rest of us?.

  The JW religion or the person, whose fault is it?

  i just read the tragic story of the man in chicago who beat his daughter to death.

  i have read stories here and on silentlambs about sexual abuse.. my question is: how much fault can be placed on the religion and how much on the perversions of a particular individual?

  i frankly don't know the answer to this question.

  Excellent thread larc and all!!!!! I am personally a great believer in personal accountability. Nothing sickens me more than seeing people try and shift the blame for their actions onto others but ya'll have really given me a lot to think about in regards to outside influnces determining behavior.

  I think HoChiMin made an excellent point regarding the performance of the parent in the congergation (especially the husband) being rated by the conduct of the wife and children. This puts a lot of pressure on ALL of them. I remember the looks I would get in the KH when my daughter would act up...and I have to admit it at times spurred me to take her in back and spank her.(which I deeply regret now!) And lets face it you can't make elder or MS unless you keep your family in line!!!

  I do feel these parents had some "issues" outside of being JW's but I am sure the pressure they got from the org put even more stress on their already maxed out mental conditions! And therefore did contribute to this horrible tragic occurance. (my opinion for what it is worth anyway)

  As a side note I have known several people who have received outside counciling for their mental problems and they were (in our cong. anyway) looked on by most as "weak" for this.

  Never fails to amaze me now when I read their lit. how could I have missed this stuff????? It seems so clear now...I mean it is so biased, judgemental and slanted...aaaahhhhh how could I have been so blind for so long??? Must have been that new bright light they kept shining in my eyes...yep that had to be it!!!!

  JW's and Chronic Fatigue Syndrone!

  chronic fatigue syndrone, m e, yuppie flu.

  i dont know if anyone else has noticed the alarming number of jws who claim to suffer from chronic fatigue syndrone,i mean hear in cornwall there tend to be several sufferers in every congregation,outside the jws out of the many people i know i dont know anyone,although there are obviosly many outside the jws who suffer this illness,percentage wise it seems that jws have a much,much larger occorance of the illness.. for example my brother in law has not worked and been living on invalidity benefits for more than 10 years since his mid twenties,his brother is also in the same boat, an m.e sufferer.. i wonder if anyone has looked into this a bit more?

  Well I know we had several in our hall! Tim's mom is one of them. I pretty much agree with the group that it stems largely in part from the depression of being a JW. Women JW are considered second class citizens, they must be submissive to both their husbands and any baptised "brother" in the org. Their only outlet is their children (which they aren't supposed to have in the first place) and service. Gee just THINKING about it is making me depressed and tired!

  i have, quite recently i began to take particular notice of one posters writings, and i thought to myself - 'that fella has got his head screwed on!'.

  a week or so later said "fella" made a reference to her husband!

  Their reasoning on this always totally blew my mind especially now that I am one of the ones who is going to be destroyed (per my JW family anyway)....If you never run across the JW...and aren't destroyed by the hand of God...then you get a chance to be in the new system. But if you by chance happen to be born a JW or become converted in some other manner and decided for whatever reason it isn't for you...then you are toast! No second chance for you...you can be a murderer who never talked to a JW and get into "paradise" but a lawbiding ExJW...HELL NO..no room for you!!! lol makes total sense to me...NOT!

  So basically to anyone who has not converted....DON'T...for God's sake shut the blinds..turn the lights OFF and do not under any circumstances open the door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  and just a note per edward gentry...see the note at the bottom of most of his posts...(Devils advocate) You were captain of the debating team in school weren't you eddy???

  Sorry to hear about your friend Escargot! I can't believe they put that on the outline...what am I saying..yes unfortunatly NOW I can believe it. Well hopefully who ever gives her funeral talk will be as sensitive as you were...amazing how many people forget that the funeral is for the grieving family not for the dead or the conversion of the non JW living!
