You seem fun for a priest. If you are indeed a priest.

Mountain sleigh ride
by BrentR inevery christmas i take my wife and daughter up to leavenworth which is a small bavarian themed town in the middle of the cascade mountains.
ten miles north of the town is eagle creek ranch which has sleigh rides.
it was 20 deg (f) with a slight north breeze that made it feel much colder.

Amazing pictures and great memories for you all! Memories are the best gifts we can give each other I think.

Do People Truly "Love" Each Other On This Forum?
by minimus ini read how certain ones will profess their "love" for another poster---a poster that they probably never met in "real life".
is it me or does this strike you as almost impossible??

My take: You can't love someone you don't really know.
Do you ever really know anyone? Heck some of us don't even know ourselves that well. Though I have to say I tend to get a bit creeped out when someone who barely knows me professes love but as long as they keep their distance it's all good.

It's heartwarming how concerned some people are for Renee's child. Thank God we have people like you to tell us how to raise children, it's a wonder we manage at all without you. Funny too how many years ago when you were a JW you would have ranted a different tune and been positive you were completely right then as well.
I highly doubt Renee taking her child to chuch will scar it for life, but if it does then she will have to deal with it. As parents we make lots of different choices for our children and generally hope for the best, not all our choices are perfect nor are they ones other parents might make for their own children. That is how we all end up with different life experiences and perspectives, cool huh?
I hope your enjoy your new church Renee. Personally I find the Luthern Church more to my taste, or at least the one I went to in Austin. It's amazing how different churches can be within the same religion, they tend to take on the personality of their pastor seems like.

It's 3 degrees here, which sounds much colder than whatever it is in real temp. The wind has been up so that they cancelled the ferry today and it might snow tonight or tomorrow. I'm fixin to build a fire and Ross is bringing me home some Scotch to keep me warm.

Are There Similarities With JWs & ExJWs?
by minimus indo you think believe that once a person leaves the organization that they are all that much different from what they were as witnesses?
is there still a "cult mentality" in the exjw community?
are there some that still want to feel "special"?

Just from online interaction I would say in general there is some. A few examples IMO:
You see posters who still feel the need to convert others to their way of thinking because they are positive they have now found the "truth" be it a new religion or lack thereof.
You see posters who shift accountability for their own actions off themselves and on to the JW's whereas it was previously the world or Satan that was to blame for their problems and/or issues.
You see a herd mentality at times that strives to sensor anyone with opinions that differ from the majority.

I'm constantly amazed at posters who say they are over God but continue to devote so much time to him. I can't help but wonder if you spent more time figuring out your own life and less time trying to tell other people what they ought to believe you would be a lot happier. (Yes I know tell me how happy you are. )
