  the us launched an air strike on key cities in afghanistan around 12:45 est today.

  president bush says that we are specifcally targeting taliban military installations, and terrorist training camps.

  may god be with us all.. .

  Not always..but sometimes it is necessary...when the talking doesn't work and "time out" doesn't work and they have moved from punching you to punching innocent people around you then sometimes stronger measures have to be taken....

  Has anyone prepared for further attacks here?

  just wondering.. i find myself having little mini panic attacks about all this.

  now that i have a little one to be responsible for, i am a little nervous.. i am strongly fighting the urge to have my car loaded up with a weeks worth of supplies for us (ie food, gear, clothes, diapers, water) so if something happens big here - i can head out to canada.. warning (haha) be ready my canadian friends - my daughter and i may be joining you.. anyone else feeling these "survivalist" feelings?????.

  Heard them just talking about that possiblity on the radio...they figure since the first attacks were planned so far in advance they don't really have to worry about any "suprise" attacks...course not sure I want to rely on the reasoning of people who missed out on the danger signs for the first attacks though....

  What would it take?

  in view of the jw reactions on items such as the ngo thing, harbouring child molesters, it made me wonder about what it would take for the average jw to really grasp that the gb, the org and lots of its doctrine is not what it claims to be.. personally i've experienced that after a longwinded argument with an elder about the validity of the 1914 doctrine, he eventually agreed that it wasn't as solid as he thought and that it could be incorrect.

  did he see the light (or its absence)?

  interestingly enough, he immediately added that even if all this were true/untrue, it would not invalidate his loyalty to the org & gb.

  I think some people just couldn't handle it...they have been in the org. for to long...my husband's parents have given their ALL to this religion...how can they possibly ever consider the fact that it was for nothing?

  For me it was little things mounting...and the final straw was the tears in my daughters eyes as I tried to explain why we couldn't celebrate her birthday...why that day wasn't supposed to be special to her or to me...then I realized DAMN IT it WAS special and no one was going to tell me any different!....beginning of the first day of the rest of our lives!

  cnn reports that the british working with the us in the initial attack.

  royal navy submarines have launched a number of cruise missiles to assist with removing the taliban's war fighting capability.. congratulations and a big thank-you to all the sailors of the royal navy.
