Is the society shooting themselves in the foot with the new DF policy?
by truth_about_the_truth inlet's face it, it seems like a simplification of the df process as many of you have already mentioned.. within the 6 million or so jw worldwide, there has to be a good number of ppl that are on the fringes of being dfed.
in the past, it took time to technically df these ppl because of the no-shows at judicial hearings and appeals.
also dfing a person can be delayed when no actual proof can be provided of the sin committed.

?[Name of person] is no longer one of Jehovah?s witnesses.?
In think this statement will be read more and more often, to the point where it becomes a semi- regular annoucement, prompting Brooklyn to decide that they are only going to read the announcement on the last Service Meeting of the month. Something like a reverse roll call.
This will be the most attended meeting of the month.

Do you have "Nice Roads" where you live?
by JH in.
here, the roads are in terrible shape.
with 4 distinct seasons, we have many potholes this time of year, and they don't pave streets very often....like maybe once every 40 years for secondary roads, and maybe once every 10 years for major arteries.. all they seem to do around here is patch roads, not pave entire lengths like they used to not so many years ago.. i was just wondering if this was just here...

Charity work in Dubsville
by Qcmbr inhow much does the watchtower organisation give to charity?
is there an organised effort to better the world in any way?
-

When I first became a JW in 1972 that had a 55minute talk outline that basically said it's not agood idea to give to charities since they were of the world and run by corupt people that pokected most of the money
Now there's an example of the pot calling the kettle black.
I can never recall the congregation "voting" to give the needy financial assistance, though I do recall the contribution box being opened for that night only, when travelling missionaries stopped in and gave a talk/slide show. Whatever assistance individuals received was from other individuals.
"Religion is the worship and service of the Devil and his associate demons .... Religion is the chief means that puts fear into the minds of the people and leads them into the Devil's snare .... Truly then, as stated, 'religion is a snare and a racket,' employed to collect money from them under false representations." Joseph Rutherford Watchtower, Jan. 15 1940, Page 29

It's like this, some houses are so far gone that it is better to tear them down and rebuild rather than remodel.
Isn't that what the WTS says about "this old system"?

especially in regards to the mission statement or whatever in the awake, did they make an announcement or did they just hope no one would notice?
i just cant believe that there wasnt a mass exodus after that, my family never mentioned the change to me, i didnt even know til years later on this site.

They just hoped no one would notice.
Just after that issue of the Awake was released, my wife and I had been inactive for a little while, when we received a "shepherding" call from 2 elders.
I mentioned the change and one elder was aware of it, the other was completely unaware of it, and it unsettled him. Elder #1 tried to dismiss it, but I got some small satisfaction, that even though I no longer received the magazines, I knew about it and he didn't.
I still remember watching a news bite on CNN about it, with the newscaster, announcing (paraphrase) 'To the Jehovah's Witnesses organization, the end has become fluid.'
