it always surprises me just how many long - departed ex's refer to their life in the witnesses as being time spent "in the truth".. imho, every time we use that particular phrase, we are just re-imprinting ourselves with an old belief system that triggers off negative feelings about ourselves?.
when we talk about our past experiences, isn't it better to refer to them simply as being "when i was a jehovah's witness"?.
after all, isn't it an incredibly stupid action to leave "the truth"?.
LOL. I am always correcting xjws when they use that expression, " the truth"
But Scully makes a good point as Chesses did a few days ago, about using expressions current jws are familar with, so that the "shields" don't go up.
Myself I use witnesses, or like DJ " The Watchtower ", which is a good overall expression to describe jws and their organization..
they're in the work place, at social gatherings.
they are just about everywhere that men are--- including the internet.
they hit on single men, married men, old and young.

Sadly a great deal of first time posters here, start their initial thread, after experiencing trauma at the hands of jws and your case is no exception. We share in your anger and offer our unconditional love and hope for you AND your son.
DJ hit the nail on the head, when she encouraged you to show love to him anyways. He is, as most of us were, disconnected form reality.
But there is hope, and this forum is living testimony.

my mom and i have been cleaning out the basement and gathered over 20 years worth of jw books, magazines, tracts (some dating from the 1950's!).
we are playing with the idea to return the jw material in a box, with the words "we quit" and a xeroxed copy of the cover coc next sunday morning in front of the local kh.
does anyone have any better/more sarcastic ideas?

i'm getting near 68 and i can't do the things i used to do without some pain.. yesterday i worked on the lawn mower and i had to lift it onto the pinic table, wow!
i didn't know they made them so much heavier now.. today i'm replacing the brake pads on my 4x4 truck.
my back just won't hold up long enough to finish both wheels.

Here's another viewpoint.
I was listening to CBC radio a few weeks ago, when the original SARS outbreak was in full swing.
They were interviewing a gentleman, (not sure of his accreditation) who commented, that perhaps we were going about this the wrong way.
His viewpoint was that with an incubation period of 10 days, it will become impossible to quarantine everbody, and that we should just let SARS run it's course, and let our bodies build up our immunities.
The other point he touched on was that the financial costs of trying to stop SARS will become insurmountable.
Any comments ?
