  My God Complex

  when i left jwism i still believed in god.

  i even ordered other bible editions and literature from religious book clubs.

  but the more i researched, especially on the internet, and some of the thesises i read, i've begrudgingly come to the conclusion that the bible is nothing more than a series of stories, genelogies, and fables passed down from generation to generation.

Little of which has any historical significance.

  This God thing I am still having problems with.

  I want to believe in a God......or do I?

  Do I need a God? Does God need me?

  If there is a God and he's trying to prove a point, what point is it he is trying to make?

  Is God trying to prove that we cannot live without him?

  Can God live without us? Who would his "subjects" be, or who would "worship"him if we kill ouselves off, or "HE" annilates us?

  How many "real friends" did you have in your congregation?

  most congregations have about 80 to 120 people.

  out of that, how many could you consider being a "real friends"?

  personally, not one of them was a "real friend".

  Well in the true sense of the word, I guess that would be zero.

  However while we were "in". we actually had a dozen or so very close to us.

  And even though CJ and I were fringe JW's and most of those we hung with were elders or elder material, it in no way affected our realtionships.

  In fact because CJ and "were so fun to hang with" we would often go with just 1 or 2 couples for weekend getaways, because it was well known that CJ and I never, ever gossiped about what went on. What happened at the ski chalet, stayed at the ski chalet, etc.

  And even though these ones don't outright shun us, they of course "cannot" associate with us.

  I like to think they miss us as much as we miss them. I would welcome them back without hesitation, but this time on my terms, not the Watchtowers.

  he shoveled the front walk and has been helping us clean the basement.

  the bad news i think it's going to be a very very long time before i see grass.

  it's january 27, and we already have more snow than we get in a season, and traditionally march is our heaviest month for snowfall.

  this is a very new experience for me!

  i have been a contractor for a long time and i'm not used to my employer asking me what i would like to do... and have them pay for it!

  i bet this is all old hat to you regulars on the board, but occassionally when i look for something, i find more than i expect.

  was mulling over the 1914 thing (607 etc) and discovered :-.

  i thought this was a hoax, then clicked on the link to ''thy kingdom come'' - so now what to believe?

  Yeah the bastards were already "sanitizing" their shiterature back in the early 1900's.

  Amazing how the 1897 edition of "Thy Kingdom Come" used the pyramid measurement of 3416 inches to arrive at the 1874 date, but the 1916 edition gives the pyramid measurement of 3457 inches to come to 1914.

  Meaning in a period of 19 years the pyramid grew 41 inches, equalling the growth of Russell's nose..

  my husbands grandmother as been diagnosed with full blown ovary cancer.

  they fear that she also has it in her stomach as well.

  they are trying to get her to the or tonight in order to operate on her right away.

  this is dave, stealing one of gina's topics.. please send your positive thoughts to gina, one of her birds died today.

  she has several birds, a yellow-nape amazon (big parrot), an african gray (snuggle bird), a starling (saved as a fledgling), two cockatiels (think largish yellow parakeets), and two doves.

  cheeko was a green-cheek amazon, a smallish parrot.

  so the may 2004 awake was left on my campus today.

  in their article about disease they list how many people have died from disease since 1914. .

  smallpox 350-500 million .
