Matt Dillahunty and Tracie Harris Respond to JW Caller's Arguments For God's Existence
by Island Man inin this recent episode of the atheist experience "john from london" calls in to the show to give his arguments for god's existence.
matt and tracie use logic to point out the flaws in his arguments - very weak arguments!.
near the end of the conversation, john starts talking about the un turning on religion.

Religion = bad ideas
Will the UN disseminate good ideas in it's battle?

Jesus was NOT talking to ANOINTED people when he said these words. Asshole!
No one was anointed until after his death. He was talking to the "other sheep" version of his disciples at the time he spoke these words. Remember, John the Baptizer was of the "other sheep" just like the rest of the monkeys were until the "outpouring of the holy spirit" at Pentecost 33.
Their BS is really stretched.

My immediate family was composed of 3 elders and 1 MS and 4 pioneers. That was 10 years ago.
Now, zero, zip, and zilch.

Why does the Watchtower leadership slap its own defenders in the face?
by slimboyfat intake the case of rolf furuli.
i don't think there has been a specific thread on the hebrew verbs u-turn in the nwt, and how the society has responded to the work of perhaps their brightest and ablest defender in their history.
so here goes.. rolf furuli has defended jws on multiple fronts in many different settings, on issues ranging from chronology, mental health, doctrines, bible translation and the blood issue.

I've appreciated reading through this scholarly thread. Nice to see specifics on the Hebrew translating efforts of the WT darling Fred Franz. He had the time (single, really single) and the ability, so he did a lot of work.
But, as I was waking up from the cult, the point Simon made hit me between the eyes.
The following doesn't matter:
- What an ancient Hebrew extant says
- What a Hebrew scholar says
- What the NWT nor the rNWT says
- What an old Watchtower says
The only thing that matters is that seven hands go up on Wednesday morning around the GB table and vote unanimously on a piece of "new light". That procedure trumps EVERYTHING and EVERYONE, yesterday and today.

Are there any ex-missionaries here??
by fulano ini have been a missionary in the dominican republic for almost 10 years and i was wondering if there were any ex-missionaries on this forum.. i am back in my country now for 3 years and totally inactive.. what i noticed in those missionary-years was the lack of spiritual interest among the missionaries.. discussions were about rooms, cars and greater responsibilities, the bad territory.
and the local c.o.s and d.os.. was this only in the dr or are there other experiences??.
ere other experiences?

The old missionary home. He that has the most seniority gets the best of everything.
I've known lots of missionaries over the years and have spent nights at several missionary homes. There always seemed to be one psycho in the house making everyone else's lives miserable.
All of that is now a thing of the past it seems. Are there any more functioning missionary homes in Central or South America?

by adjusted knowledge inmy wife is taking a literature course at a local college.
this was her final topic of the semester: why rational people buy into conspiracy theories?i automatically thought of this site and of jws.
the jws i knew, were the kind of people that would believe in conspiracy theories, and i noticed a small following on this site.. the article that was referenced for this course was: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/26/magazine/why-rational-people-buy-into-conspiracy-theories.html?_r=0.

That feeling of "I'm in the know", "I got it figured out", is very appealing to a person with low self-esteem and a lack of success in life, love, and/or money. -

Why do people follow demonstrably False Prophets?
by WireRider inwhy does everyone just turn a blind eye to the false teachings of the watchtower?
the bible warns us many times and in many ways not to follow false prophets - including the lake of fire.
fundamentally why do the followers of the watchtower just ignore the very bible they claim to live by?.

I'm not sure which pathetically false prophet is worthy of more derision.
Is it the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses or is it Jesus?

Review of the November 15 study article - "Stand Firm in the Faith"
by Divergent inthis study article poses questions that we should ask ourselves.
don't have time to analyze the whole thing, so will start from paragraph 8:.
8 do gods promises seem less real to me now than they once did?

Has miserably unfulfilled prophetic interpretations by the faithful and discreet slave destroyed your faith?
Where's my issue/question at?
