Alex Jones, Infowars Ban on Youtube, FB and other platforms
by pleaseresearch inwhat are you thoughts on this?.
i find this alarming because jones was very outspoken and had great guests on discussing topics most other media outlets wouldn't go near.. the fact that many have restricted him access to their medium what does this say on our freedoms of speech?.

This Article Won't Change Your Mind - Great Read
by cofty inthis article won’t change your mind - the facts on why facts alone can’t fight false beliefs.
brilliant article in the atlantic by julie beck discussing the phenomena of cognitive dissonance and how it affects religious and political beliefs.
it includes some interesting thoughts on how social media has magnified the problem.. spoiler - she is not optimistic about the possibility of successfully reasoning with members of religious cults.. the article also has a link to the 45 minute audio version.. link....

I was pissed about "the generation" and stumbled upon a Matt Dillahunty video regarding slavery in the Bible, that's what woke me up.
What wakes people up? On the average it may be social reasons, but that is the average, there's always people on the other side of the median.
Thank you for posting about this article Cofty!

Are we losing our way a bit at JWN?
by nicolaou infirstly, i want to be crystal clear how grateful i am for jwn.
it's been my place of support for over seventeen years and it's the first online space i direct anyone to if they are taking steps out of the cult.
i am not bashing jwn - i love this place and appreciate the hard work and expense simon puts in to keep it going.

I wonder that if you've debunked everything JW from every angle, as this site has in its over a decade of existence, it is easy to get bored with JW stuff and just start analyzing the world scene in general. ExJW stuff is certainly less interesting for me now than it was 6 years ago.
This site has always been a huge resource for exiting JWs, HUGE. It's always good to re-group and see what impact our work is having and current goals we have.
Simon, you are a big-hearted person and also very passionate about your beliefs. If the ship needs righting in any way, I'm not worried about you seeing to it. I thank you for your continued endeavors in keeping this cult victim support website afloat and running well.

Fox Has a 3 Part Series on Hasidic Jews
by minimus inyesterday they started a three part series on hasidic jews living mostly in brooklyn and new jersey and how they take advantage of the system and at the same time rule with an iron hand for bidding the use of modern technology, smart phones, tv etc .
if you think the witnesses are bad, take a look at them.
they ostracize you and kick your children out of their schools and treat you as nonexistent !

A good analogy might be the US, with its social programs and religious tax exemptions compared to my aunt with her 50 or 60 cats.
She's created a hell hole of misery for not only any sane person that sees her property, but for the cats themselves.

Reading your OP gave me an epiphany.
Me and my wife aren't friends, we haven't been for 6 years.
We've had a fake relationship since November 2011, when I woke up.

Another School Shooting: The Gun Violence/Mental Illness Debate Continues
by jp1692 inin the aftermath of the valentine's day school shooting in florida, i have read quite a number of articles, blogs and posts about the event.
it is disturbing--and i think inexcusable--that many people take the opportunity to use horrible tragedies such as this to push their own particular agenda.. in particularly insensitive and tone-deaf tweet, conservative political commentator tomi lahren wrote: "can the left let the families grieve for even 24 hours before they push their anti-gun and anti-gunowner agenda?
my goodness.

Is the USA too big?
by Diogenesister infred deftone on another thread about the tragic events at m. stoneman douglas school:.
the us constitution wasn't written for 50 states either.
the country has gotten too big and i think the solution is fragmentation.

We only have two political parties. Republican, and Republican-light (Democrats) or maybe it's vice versa? Thus both houses are full of predatory politicians like Ted Cruz and Nancy Pelosi.
My only hope is that street epistemology continues to grow and critical thinking skills become a thing. Obama was a center right politician. Bush was a dummy and Trump is a fucking buffoon. Having a president that does more than just give lip service to progressive ideas would be great.
We are now borrowing 1 trillion a year to pay the bills. And we continue to suck the cock of the military industrial complex.
And yes, we don't need 1 billion people living here.

Sitting at a convention, David Splane was pontificating on his new baby. The overlapping generation.
For fuck sake, you must be fucking kidding me.
That's all I could think.
