Why does the WTBTS survive?
by Skimmer inback in late 1973 when i got my fatal doubts about the wtbts, i was sure that the society would crumble soon after 1975 when yet another prediction failed.
i was not alone with this thought; a british author by the name of stevenson (an exjw that had written an expose) allocated an entire chapter in his book about the likelihood that there would be a very major falling away in 1976 or soon thereafter.. but it didn't happen.
yes, there were several years of consecutive worldwide declines.

Stop crossing threads Ozzie. Nobody here will have a clue what we are talking about. Anyway, I'm afraid that you will have to come up with a better answer than that. YT.

Hi Eppie, Have a look in the book, Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God, pages 26 -30,to find the source of the speculation on 1975. If you are still going to the meetings, you should find a copy in the library. My dad was congregation servant at the time and he squashed it flat right away, so we didn't go round telling people that Armagedon was coming then. At that time, when the circuit servant came to the cong. he would say, "So many years, so many months, so many days to Armagedon." Bear in mind that they don't wipe their noses without first getting the society's OK. So there is no doubt that they were behind it. I'll look forward to hearing from you Eppie. Bye, YT.

I getting bored with this Board
by OlderTom ini'm just wondering if it is because i have changed and have gained my freedom from the watchtower enslavement or i just don't care anymore or is it that i have been exposed to too much of the same old complaints about the borg and all the false prophecies and the lies?.
i must admit i still get pleasure from reports of the watchtower walls starting to crumble al over the civilized world so i guess i'll continue to pop in from time to time.. as far as trying to de-program and rescue the poor unfortunate brainnumbed watchtower slaves, i think it's a total waste of time after all how do get through to people who prefer to believe in the lies when they know they are lies but they just don't want to see the real truth about the "truth(tm)".
i gues they don't want to see the real truth because it would force them to start thinking for them selves again and for some people that is just too much of a burden to bear.

Hi Folks, Sorry I took so long to post. Mommie Dark, your way to salvation seems very cold and friendless, surely there are enough scriptures in the Bible about love, helping each other, and companionship!!! So let's keep it happy.
Ozzipost, I can't see how your scriptures change anything, surely had the nation of Israel stayed faithful they would have been performing their priestly function towards the nations, as will spiritual Israel.
I would not argue that they perform this on the earth. But they are a special possesion, bought or ransomed from the Earth. Bye, YT. -

Hi Folks, I feel vulnerable having the big guns trained on me, and remember my thoughts are in a state of flux, but, not having read the book yet, I feel that 1914 could be right. It has to be sometime in history. As does Armagedon. Generation, I don't think about it much, but on balance I think I prefer the old version. (we all know why they changed it) The faithful and disceet slave must be out there somewhere, are they the governing body? The more I learn about them the less I believe it, maybe it's all of the Anointed. 144000 are special possesion, kings and priests, bought from the earth. If all are part of this group, who do they rule over, to whom do the apply their priestly activities, and where do all of the faithful ones who died before Christ fit in?
OlderTom, I am in the process of reading the book, and I agree that the Mexico/Malawi is unbelievable. When the time is right, at the appropriate moment, in the fullness of time, I'll ask a selected elder and see what reaction I get!! Maybe the same one that I asked why the society playing the stock exchange wasn't gambling. Got to go now, Bye, YT. -

Hi OlderTom, I get the feeling that I know who you are talking about, I suppose if the cap fits!! However, freedom goes two ways and you haven't convinced me that you are right, yet. Yes I can see all the flaws in the Borg, but I, unlike you, still believe that the Bible is God's Word (Society talk) and that the basic beliefs are bible based. But I have never been a Society man, don't like them, hate the way they run Bethel, and have always said that if Jehovah and Jesus run the new system like the brothers run Bethel, who would want to be there!!! So I am in the horns of a dilemma. There is a lot of love between the ordinary brothers and sisters (the real people) I know that it is conditional, but that is the same in most cases, unless two or more people have a strong bond going back a long time. To all the others who have posted to this topic, there is a lot of anger, and I can understand that. What I would like to know is, If you no longer believe the JW's doctrines, what conclusions have you come to. If you want to woo people away you have to put something concrete in its place. Don't go away OlderTom, your topics always have bite, see you soon, YoungerTom

Hi Francoise, I'll have to give your post more thought, I am not a spiritual person, my mind is on earthly things, I don't consider Heaven at all. So, taken on face value, according to, Romans ch 8, vs 6-8, I,m a gonner, but there has to be more to it than that, so I'll take more time, read the context and see if I come up with something.
By for now, YoungerTom.

Unclebruce, I've got a feeling that we have had this conversation before!!! If you were 200 or so, fit and healthy, and we came along and said, "When would you like to go, to-day? No! To-morrow then? No! O.K. then, choose a day, I'm guessing that it would be never. You know that we are talking about more than just another 50 years or so.
Although I must agree with you that the Virgin Isles is one of the best addresses on the planet, we have never heard of the person of whom you speak, Auntie ABC, in this part of the world!!

Hi Unclebruce, Real Tom must never know!!! Looks as if you are trying to whip the rug out from under all of us. Do you see any hope at all?
Hi Logical, I'll look forward to reading the other posts. What English word is used for "naos"? I've looked up a few in the Young's Concordance and can't find it. The doctrine may be riddled with flaws, but there are definately two groups, we can't all be Kings and Priests. If, as many think, (although I am not among them), that both groups go to heaven, where do the faithful ones who died before Jesus go?
By for now, YoungerTom.
