Are you for real? You just ignored my point entirely and posted just so you can rant and rave some more. I'm sorry I interrrupted your monologue. Carry on, you obviously have some issues and need to vent.

Allow me to demonstrate for you what you call my circular reasoning:
Say there are 5000 white people in England and 5000 blacks. And let's say 3000 of the white people feel superior to the blacks because of their race. On the other hand, only 1000 of the blacks feel racially superior to the whites. Of the 1000 blacks who feel superior, 10 have committed crimes against the whites. According to your reasoning, this means that the blacks are more racist. But I disagree. Here is one definition of racism( courtesy of dictionary.com):
racĀ·ism n.
1.The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
2.Discrimination or prejudice based on race. You see, racism includes more than just racist acts, like discrimination and hate crimes. It also includes prejudice, which includes: (also courtesy of dictionary.com)
1.a. An adverse judgment or opinion formed beforehand or without knowledge or examination of the facts.
b. A preconceived preference or idea.
2. The act or state of holding unreasonable preconceived judgments or convictions.
3. Irrational suspicion or hatred of a particular group, race, or religion. As you will note, unless you conduct a poll of all of these residents and the residents answer truthfully, you would be hard pressed to get an accurate measurement of this form of racism. As I stated, this form of racism is difficult to measure and this is why I object to your statement that the blacks are more racist than the whites. What criteria were you basing this upon? Just race hate attacks? If that is the case, fine, provide documentation and reword your statement to reflect that. If not, that is why I mentioned prejudice, housing and employment discrimination. These would also need to be figured in if you want to spout racism statistics.
Here is your statement:
On just race hate attacks 165,000 (65%) in the year 2000 were committed by
non-white ethnic minorities against whites! That's less than 5% of the UK's population causing 65% of all race hate
attacks. When broken down to race it gets worse as for every 1 white racist in the white population there are 45 black
racists in the black population! 4,500% more racist in the black community is no joke. Also by you:
I could go on and on, but you are obviously not interested, and it would fall on deaf
ears. This is not America, yrs2long, please don;t forget that. There you go again, making statements which you cannot possibly know. Actually, I read your comments with some interest, as I admit I know very little about England or the UK. But when you start throwing figures around and guessing at motives and attitudes, am I really expected to take you seriously or think anything you say carries weight simply because you said it?
Sorry, I am at work today and hurriedly posting.

Sorry to disappoint you, Derek, but my use of the phrase, 'the white man' was not meant to be understood as you obviously took it. It's a phrase I have heard used often by my parents and others in my culture and understood it to mean, 'the powers that be' or the white men who are running things in the country. Certainly I don't mean to say all white people or even all white men.
Secondly, I must apologize because it really was reading Nemesis' comments that really annoyed me as he gave as-of-yet unsubstantiated figures and also assigned attitudes and intentions to the groups he spoke of which he really has no way of knowing. It's one thing to say that there are this or that many unemployed [insert race] in the UK but quite another to state that the reason this is so is because they want to be taken care of and don't want to work and so on. This is not a quote nor his exact sentiments but they run along these lines and I am not going back to look them up. Also, how can he claim this or that group is more racist when racism includes racial prejudice and this is not something easily measured. What was his basis for that statement, the hate crime rate? Would he not also have to include housing and employment discrimination in his racism calculations?
I also apologize to Englishman for getting slightly off topic on your thread.
Hyghlandyr- I never called you a racist. You can go on and on as you like (and you do) about the glories of being Irish or Celtic - it's your right and I really have no issue whatsoever with that nor with anyone else who enjoys or wants to celebrate their heritage.

Thanks to all for the empirical data they supplied on why most everyone but the white man is the scum of the earth. How nice to be able to pillage and plunder nearly every land on which you've set foot and then with your newfound riches turn yourselves into Renaissance men. Yes, poor genteel people getting mistreated by the savages you helped to create. I'm sorry but it is not the black people who do the down and dirty dirty deeds like crash planes into buildings, swindle people out of their life savings with scams and dirty business dealings, rape women and children during wartime and plant bombs in front of federal buildings. Everything the white man does is done on a grand scale. I am afraid of the white man who, with one swoop of the hand sends millions into poverty and young men into useless wars. White people don't need pride groups, America (and its institutions) is one big white pride club. I have been spoon-fed movies, history books and tons of other media that glorify the white experience. Hyghlander, yes you had a rough childhood and look how you turned out. 'Nuf said. This is the white man's world. You should be blaming the Watchtower society, your parents and yourselves for anything you lack.
I, on the other hand, know that any good-for-nothing white bum can clean himself up, put on a suit and, lacking any of my credentials, come in off of the street and take my job. That is the reality of life in America. Any white folks who experience discrimination and prejudice based on their skin color on an almost daily basis can call me up anytime and I will gladly commiserate.
And will someone please tell Hyghlander that his personal experiences with black people do not make him the resident expert on black people nor does it constitute empirical data. I have dated white, Hispanic and Asian men, including lived very closely with and among them and yet I would not be so presumptious as you to claim to have encapsulated their character and essence. And furthermore, I wish I could claim my German, English, and American Indian ancestry in addition to my African lineage but the sad reality is that I can't be any of those things on any different day because to everyone who sees me, I am only black and any additional claims only make me look foolish.
Thanks to Abaddon and LDH for their objectivity.

Why the hell do I have this pathetic life?

Hi Nicholas,
You will recall that in the Shawshank movie Red made the statement, 'get busy living or get busy dying'.
As long as you are straddling the two very separate worlds you are going to be miserable indeed. Either you give in and go whole hearted into the Wathctower world or you join this one and fully take part in it. I was inactive for many years, only attending the memorial annually, and I was as miserable as miserable can be. It wasn't until I read Crisis of Conscience and did quite a bit of research on the WTBTS that I severed the mental connection, had a good cry over the years of my life that had been wasted being duped by the WTBTS and decided to get the most out of the life that is here and now.
That meant truly interacting with people and seeing them as more than potential converts/Armageddon bird fodder. I registered to vote, started celebrating holidays, and endeavored to become a more social person. I am pursuing my master's degree and several years back embarked on a relationship with a (gasp!) worldly man.
I must say that I feel a great degree of satisfaction from my choice(s) and am happier now than I ever was as a witness!

Finally Did It
by rmayer32 inwell i finally ordered crisis of conscience.
even though i've been da'd since 1989 the truth is that i always considered it to still be the truth up until a couple of years ago when i started researching more through sites like this.
i never got around to getting my hands on that book though, and now can't wait until it arrives.

Hi Rick,
I had been inactive for almost ten years but still had a mental/emotional connection to the WTBTS. It was the Crisis of Conscience book that finally severed the connection after all of these years. Hanging out here has been good association and encouraging in embarking on a new happy and healthy life.
Here's to Ray Franz and the WTBTS for making the goof in DFing him!!

Eman,
I think your view makes you not a racist, but reflects the thinking of a member of the dominant group/culture of his country/society.
A few of the biggest indicators of a group's acculturating into mainstream society are their view of that society; their reason for migrating to that country; their view of their own culture, etc. Of course, there are other factors but these are an important few off the top of my mind.
Now, if a group sees being in England as only a temporary financial means to an end, are not embraced by your society, and/or perhaps views their own culture as being superior to yours, chances are that they may keep to themselves and associate with the natives only to the extent necesary to survive in the new society. They could probably care less about what you think.
Experiencing a country's culture that you enjoy and chose to visit is not the same as living in a foreign country where the dominant culture looks upon you with disdain. I'd wager that if you heard there was an English village nearby in that environment that you would hasten to find it and live amongst your own.

other reasons women take so long:
use tons of tissue to get bone dry
check that everything really did flush
check that skirt is not stuck in hose, undies, etc;wash hands, yep, friction and soap, rinse
completely dry hands
check that tissue is not stuck on shoe.retouch makeup and/or hair.
I hated going into the converted men's restrooms. Urinals look so weird and are a reminder of penises. and when you aren't getting any anyway, well, who needs the reminder.
