Its really really cold here, our water is frozen so I've been outside chipping at it and running inside to warm my hands over the wood stove. ahhh, to have running water and central heat and air again, I"d give almost anything! Screw this old time living...

Who here is shunned by family?
by Brummie inremember the watchtower that asked "are jws a cult?
" and then listed things that cleared it of the accusations of being such?
cant remember the date.. anyway one of the things it said was that "cults" usually have a lot of ex members testifying against it and the damage it has caused to their family lives.

I to am shunned, it makes me so angry and so sad at the same time for all of you, and the pain you've all had to endure. This might sound cold, but that my family shuns me is actually a huge relief in that I don't have to deal with them anymore! My life is a lot happier, without that abuse all the time, however it does make me so sad that I've lost my mom and my sister to this viscious cult and I'll never have the same relationship with them, because even if they left tommorow and they suddenly thought it was okay to see me, it would take awhile for them to get back in MY good graces, they have hurt me deeply, its time for them to make the apologies and come begging back, not me.

Woman Are Inferior?
by JH inin the watchtower world, woman are just about nothing.
they hold no responsibilities in the congregation except cleaning the toilets and not much more.
we all know that woman are just as intelligent as men, and some could even be good elders.

My husband get so livid at the WT's stand on discrimination against women. The elders wanted to "counsel" me on low meeting attendance so they went to him... he said she has a mouth go talk to her! Did you know that women make better astronauts???

I had to get over being shy.. I had to learn maturity at a young age, how to sit still and act interested for hours...hmm I guess once I get over being bitter over all the years wasted and heartache I went through I probably could think of some more....
bitter much???

Since leaving the org, I have become more spiritual and less religious. I would now say I'm an agnostic. I believe organized religion has caused more harm in this world than any other single thing.

Anyone here that used to be of the "annoin...
by pr_capone ini realize that this is a stretch but is there anyone on this forum that at some time thought they might have been of the anointed?
if so for how long?

My mother professes to be of the annointed, started about 10 years ago. I think she has serious emotional problems. She does a lot of weird things. I wasted a lot of my life, putting up with her abuse because I believed her, and gave her "double honor". What a load of crap. She is a horrible human being, I doubt very seriously that god picked someone like her. I'm sorry if this post sounds bitter, I guess I still am a bit.

Most ridiculous statements from the JW stage?
by Smiles inwe have all sat at jw meetings and heard some ridiculous statements that were either shocking or just plain old bunk.
usually it is the same jw individuals that make those statements time and time again.
you know the type..... you can almost expect such comments from them.. jws place great importance on what statements or persons are 'stage worthy'.

Actually the last meeting I attended, the brother said that men and women had no business being friends, because they was no such thing as a "platonic relationship". If any brothers and sisters were in the congregation claimed to be just friends they were lying. Men and women were not capable of not allowing sex into a relationship. My husband just looked at me and said "were going" and we never went back. Straw that broke the camels back. This was a public talk, he went on to say alot of other inane things that were so weird.

I assume you mean where else do you hang out on the computer. I like to go to www.neucroticobsession.com, or www.gothicplanet.com or I read the news. I'm a news freak.
