  recent archeological discoveries have found that the ancient israelites were not exactly monotheistic to yahweh, apparently the israelites also worshiped a god which was seen as yahweh's wife asherah.

  small carved sculptures have been found in places of worship and homesteads to support these findings.asherah's connection to yahweh, according to francesca stavrakopoulou, is spelled out in the bible and an 8th-century b.c.

  we you still in the borg when you realized the new testament is about god and the jews and god and the church and basically this whole transfer process from jewish law to this becoming the new person in christ.

  its rather weird i once believed in heavenly hopers and earthly hopers and faithful slave classes etc etc.

  Yes!! And now Jews and gentiles are one in Christ. One hope. I tried to tell my mom this, but she didn't listen. It's pretty obvious, actually.

  1980s Brochure/magazine on demon possession?

  does anyone else remember a brochure/ magazine from the early 80s with stories of demon possessed individuals and spiritism ?

  i dont think i saw it around very long.

  it had a story about some lady having her head snapped around by a demon.

  My dad said that his mom was at a study and started having this tunnel vision and could feel the demons. So, after I rebelled and moved out, he came to my house and what do you know, the same thing happened to him in my apartment

  It was not the first time I was accused of having demons, ugh. Jerks.

  I read it when I was a little kid and it that was probably why I was so afraid or the dark! That and all that talk about Smurfs walking around and some story about Smurf wallpaper shifting in the night!!

  The Memorial

  so, i went to the memorial to honor my mom.

  i got interested because they were going to talk about how jesus saves.

  but, they never really told anyone how to be saved.

  So, I went to the memorial to honor my mom. I got interested because they were going to talk about how Jesus saves. But, they never really told anyone how to be saved. They said you had to show appreciation for the ransom about 75 times, but never spoke about what that meant. They also said that Christendom teaches that all good people go to heaven. Um, no they don't. What's a "good" person anyway? Because, that's not a thing. No mention of belief.

  Then, my family were so loving to me. When I go to their house they barely show any love and I invited them to lunch one time and they were an hour late and my dad barely looked at me or talked much. But there, oh how happy they were, taking pictures, hugging me. It was kind of nice, but it was all a show to get me to come back and I just don't know how to feel about that.

  That's not why God punished Onan. It was because he would not have a baby with his brother's wife. His brother died and they bore no children, so he was supposed to have children with her, but he knew that the kids would be considered his brother's children, so he wasted his seed. They always miss the point!

  a question after my first JW meeting

  i attended my first jw meeting recently.

  first, i would like to say what i agree with about the jehovah's witnesses beliefs and practices.. 1. they don't consider israeli's as "god's chosen people" and they don't worship israel as some holy land filled with righteous jews (although there are some there) as most so-called "christians" (christian zionists) erroneously believe they are instead of the "hypocrites" and "vipers" that it is actually filled with.. 2. they don't celebrate "holidays" like easter and christmas which are, in fact, remnants of earlier pagan practices.. 3. they don't put nation before god and christ.

  they don't believe in war or going to war because of some crazy government/cia secret agenda.

  I believe what Jesus said in his word. Do I have proof? I have personal proof that probably won't mean much to another person. I believe God pursued me and I am so grateful he did! I am all in with Jesus and if it proves not to be true, it won't matter because life with Jesus has been abundant and he restored all that was lost. And I feel loved and accepted.

  The good thing is how much of the Bible I knew because my sister and I always read my book of Bible stories together.

  The bad thing is that I am separated from my family, but since I am not disfellowshipped, I can still be around them a little.

  Another good thing is that it constantly makes me read the Bible and pray in order to stay grounded about what the truth really is.
