Cofty, while I know you don't believe in Jesus, I think you did a great job explaining his sacrifice using the Bible and the old sacrificial system! :)

The ransom makes no sense
by BourneIdentity inif mankind needed to be redeemed from sin and death, why didn't the redemption happen as soon as jesus successfully lived his entire life without sin and sacrificed his life?
if he was successful, the price was paid and we'd all be living forever.
it's all bullshit, or jesus fucked up and sinned, so it nullified his sacrifice.

The Joseph, story, as exploited by wt
by waton inthe current treatment of the "joseph " story at the wt meetings, uses him as an example of jws suffering, holding up under attack.
i reality the wt outfit is not the victim, but fits the 10 brothers that expelled, nearly killed that original whistleblower.
our example here, who prospered in different ways outside the wtbts inc's sphere of influence.

I will usually tell the Joseph story to people I talk to in jail or if someone is going through a lot of suffering. It shows God's sovereignty - that he had a plan that was going to save a lot of lives. This story is actually a foreshadowing of the story of Jesus. It's a great story and then the famous line at the end What you meant for evil, God meant for good!! -

Jehovah's Witnesses DENY the Physical Bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ
by JW Answers inthe jehovah's witnesses are taught by their organisation that christ's body was disposed by jehovah god, they deny the physical bodily resurrection and explain that he rose again as a spirit creature.
as we take into account what the watchtower teach, i explain from the bible that christ rose again from the grave in his body, and showing forth that the jehovah's witnesses are in error.

I love that we still are discussing this!! It really brings atheists and Christians together, albeit usually in argument form, but still! :)

Will you attend the Memorial 2020 ? - Covid-19 (Coronavirus)
by bats in the belfry in... or rather listen to the advice on their jw news website:.
show love to others.
while we all know the importance of attending christian meetings and participating in the public ministry, if you are sick, it is best to stay home to avoid infecting others.

I am curious to see if my mom invites me this year. I have gone to the last 5, I would say. But this time I am df'd and my parents probably have labeled me an apostate, so I doubt it!

In short, yes. Between my controlling family and the world of JW, I felt like I was wearing a straight jacket. I escaped from both when I was 19. But, it's only in the last year or 2 that I finally feel free and I am 40.

The Jehovah's witnesses will say anything to rob Jesus of the glory his father gave him. The Bible does teach the Trinity. It's like a mosaic. Bits and pieces of things that when you take a step back you see a picture form. It took me 10 years to finally admit that I believe in it. I would read a passage and say, "Hmmm, interesting" and then one day I bowed my knee, so to speak. I felt compelled to do it. Through my 10 years of being a Christian I had always felt like something was missing...after this realization, I don't feel like that anymore!! -

Believers: How do you know your view of your chosen holy book is the correct one?
by punkofnice indon't start fighting, darlings.
i am genuinely curious.
after all i was a jobo 50 years and thought the wbt$ was 100% correct.. i ask this because i see that, for example, christian denominations (or whatever), likely have differing interpretations of the same writing.

The experiences that I have with God line up with scripture. He guides me into all truth. He comforts me and works all things for good; he is always faithful and I see my prayers come to life. I have gone through the fire and my faith remained. I saw my family fall apart and be restored and I was comforted and carried through the painful process. I see these same things in other believer's lives...they aren't just my unique experiences. And I get to share in other's life transformations! And so much more that I can't express the width, depth and height of it all!! -

That's pride, ego. My dad is the same way with Harley Davidson - there is no other bike. That's me with all my healthy food knowledge. That's my stepdaughter with politics. It's not just religious. -
