Self-Healing, Homeopathy, Herbalist
by YoursChelbie ini remember while being a dub, there were many people in the kh i attended that seldom went to a traditional family doctor for common ailments.
they were always praising their alternative methods of non-conventional medicine.
even after they explained in principle how these methods work, i still had difficulty accepting them as safe alternatives.

I always find my favourite drinks as I'm traveling to obscure, boring places:
#1 - The Fuzzy Fu&k - Discovered at a bar in the middle of the PA Amish county. It's a Fuzzy Navel with 1/2 Shot Jaeger in it! It's nicer than you think.
#2 - The Baileys Comet - Discovered at a bar in Kingman, AZ. Its 2 shots Baileys, 2 Shots Vodka in a nice big glass with lots of ice. This sucker's deadlier than you think, because you think you're having a nice Baileys and the Vodka (comet part) comes to bite you in the ass!

Trashing The USA.
by Englishman init seems to me that many americans are convinced that europeans are for ever slagging off the usa for some reason or another.. just to set the record straight, america bashing is relatively rare in europe, most of us regard the usa with a not inconsiderable degree of affection.
obviously there are cultural differences between the continents that can lead to feelings being trampled on, but america-hating persons are quite rare over here.
the few real antagonists are very vociferous, but like most fundamentalists, regaded as being completely loony.. maybe the americans who have visited over here have an opinion?.

I spend a lot of time over in the UK, visiting family and for business reasons. No trip is complete without someone making a rude comment about me being American. And I'm not even one of those "stereotypical" Americans that Europeans can't stand - with bad clothes and a loud mouth. But I still get the bad comments.

Paganism is ok when we say it is
by zenpunk inwe all probably know already that jws don't celebrate christmas, labeling it a pagan holiday and telling its whole sordid history to anyone who'll listen.
however, i found out that wedding rings are pagan in origin.
the jws know it but they include the exchange of rings during the wedding ceremony, explaining that rings are exchanged as an outward symbol to everyone that this couple is married, thus justifying the pagan origin of the whole thing.

I agree with Crazy. They use so many buzz words for everything else, what's 7 more for the days of the week?

my mom was a pretty strict believer, but she didn't get baptized until i was 9, "surprisingly" my parents got divorced three years later.

I work, go to college, and spend at least an hour a day at the gym. What spare time? Seriously though, we are restoring a farm house we purchased - built in 1770.

Baptism is pagan? Really? I never knew.
Imbue - I have no plans to take up Christmas this year . I just think there is a double standard here where the WTS can say you cannot do something based on pagan origin, but other things of pagan origin are ok. I realize that Christmas is based on a lie, but does the society really take that into account when making its decision?
