I agree with you BlackSheep. I remember telling the guidance counselor I wasn't interested in going to college because I was going to be a missionary. What could they say to that? I found out years later that, in light of my grades, etc., all my worldly relatives had pulled the money together for me to go to university and went to my parents with it (I wasn't home at the time). My parents sent my grandfather and 2 uncles on their way, saying that college was out of the question for their daughter. I think the media should do a story on this aspect of brainwashing - I wonder if they even realize what's going on.

New Tract-Youths What Will You Do With Your Life
by Scarlet ini was wondering if any of you have read this tract that was given out at the district convention .. i found in this tract they are pushing the fulltime ministry more than ever before.
they in so many words say if you are not a fulltime minister you are not serving god.
it stated that youths today should not strive for academic success.

Bethelites....a real catch ?
by av8orntexas inok everyone i'm pretty new here and here's my two cents... one thing i could not figure out was...what was the craze with bethelites ?
as a reg pioneer supposedly i was a lock for local sis..but from my point of view sisters practically fell over themselves trying to get a piece of these guys.. myself i was never one to let anyone go unoticed.. i was equal opprotunity..especially for the spanish sis's in the spanish cong..speaking of which have any of you guys ever been to one of the spanish conventions ?
i had to pick my tongue off the ground several times..hehehe.

The sisters at my old congregation used to practically line up at the front of the KH when a new Bethel boy arrived. It was like the Yale of the JWs. They were so blinded that these men were the ultimate catch. But here's the real truth:
A sister and I got married a month apart. I married a non-WTFarm boy (whew) and she married the good-ol Bethel boy. Here's our lives 8 years later:
Me and my husband - out of the borg with house, careers, college, vacations, happiness, about to start a family later in the marriage.
Her and her husband - baby factory, tiny apartment, one income from painting houses, no time for recreation, saying they're happy with a blank exhausted stare.
And people thought I was foolish for "just saying no" to Bethelites!

Once again, they have reverted on another decision. It must be because those new college grads were fleeing the organization like bats out of hell. When I finally left, the first thing I did was get my backside into a college classroom - probably one of the best decisions I've ever made in my entire life.

Should I pay for lunch?
by writerpen inthere is this gay man in my church that i've asked to meet me for lunch in about a week.
he responded through email saying that he would enjoy that and asked "what arrangements do you suggest," thus wanting time, location, etc.
anyway, this is my thing.

I think that, since you did the inviting, you should at least attempt to pay the entire check, regardless of whether or not it is a date.

Would you condone abortion?
by haujobbz intoday i questioned my mother about the fact that she told me ?
yrs ago how she lost 2 kids through a miscarriage but then later told me she aborted them, well i didnt know what to say, but then later questioned her about this i asked her why she did it, she told me that she was already bringing up me and my sister and financialy impossible to look after two more kids, well i didnt agree with that reason or any reason to kill the unborn she then said she wasnt in the truth then "huh what difference does that make".
then she gave an illustration of reasons when you should condone abortion and it goes like this, if you were raped and later found out you were pregnant what would you do she seemed to say she would abort it,i said i wouldnt if that happened to my wife i said i would probably end up having it adopted, after all its better than murder.. how has this affected my familys view on abortion i wonder, well i have 5 sisters and 1 more brother, and already my brother in cold blood made his girlfriend abort hers due to the inconvienience, and also my older sister had hers aborted 2 yrs ago because the father didnt want to know with out a hint of regret,so im now starting to see a pattern in my family, whos to blame them or my mother as a role model.. so to cut a long story short do you think killing an unborn child is murder, would you do it under certain scenarios.

My mother was 15 when she found out I was on the way - a sophmore in High School! Everyone begged her for an abortion. I'm so glad she refused.

It all depends....we just had a couple get married at work who had a successful office romance. This was because they worked in different departments, under different bosses, and in different buildings. They went to lunch together but they weren't all over each other during office hours. But for each good story there are 10 bad ones, because when things go south it can get really ugly for everyone in the office.

Oh where to begin....I'm the master of the bad dates. In fact I started a thread on it a long time ago. So I'll actually tell you about a good one this time where a JW was involved. He was a farm guy from Wallkill and I was in the 12th grade. And he was as goregous as a model. He went to school with me one day (which gave me instant mega-popular status) and we skipped out right before lunch and went to a fancy restaurant (which he paid for) and then took me to my very first R rated movie (gasp)! I never had such a fun time. Unfortunately he was kicked out of the farm right after that for needing an attitude adjustment.
