the achilles heel of sydney's vulnerability to fires is especially from the north west where fire can reach through national park gullies right down to the city.. today it started to turn for the worse, just after we'd had some respite for the new year celebrations.

The pic is of the Bridge Over The River Tyne (Gerrit?!)in Newcastle.I thgought that Sydney bridge was built by a homesick Geordie who wanted a permanent reminder of home. Bloody wingeing Poms!I thought it was a big mechano set sent over from Liverpool or Glasgow or some other beautiful green place. We often see Sydney Harbour type bridges on British TV. I think I even saw one in "the Bill" the other night? They're breeding I tell ya!

yesterday two relatives came to visit me.as usual they go into the fridge to see whats to eat(left overs,i cook alot).i only had a turkey neck left over from x-mas,so they put it in the micro-wave to heat it up.as i watched them eating the meat off the neck i said,what are you doing.they say they are eating the meat off of the turkey neck.i said no,thats not a turkey neck,we had the dog fixed.they couldn`t spit the turkey meat out fast enough..(lol)...outlaw

a guy came in our pub tonight wearing a back to front baseball hat.
after 10 minutes or so he was getting very miffed that no-one wanted to talk to him.
i explained to him that he was offending everyone by wearing a hat indoors, surely, especially as he is a police officer, he was aware that it is extremely bad manners to wear a hat indoors?.
Hey ozzie, you want I should press yer hat? ('scuse my brooklyn accent abbott and costello are on tv .. the american funny guys not the aussie silly buggers ;)

i just came across this site not too long ago and have been reading the stories.
i am filled with relief and at the same time frustration mixed with tears, because i have been holding my story in and not sharing it with anyone, except my husband.
i have felt many of the feelings expressed here but was afraid to say them out loud for fear of being an 'apostate'.
