When The Society Bashed JFK.

back in the 60's, when i was a wee laddie round about fred halls age, the wtbts started to pee their pants at the thought of a roman catholic becoming president of the usa.. we had lots of talks and prayers about how our american brothers would be persecuted if jfk were elected and a series of anti - catholic articles started to appear in the magazines.. there was an awful lot of hot air about this being a "sign" of something or other, can anyone recall any of this or throw some light on the subject?.

Actually, what stuck me, was all the anti-union talk and commie bashing. Even in the early '80's we were told the King of the North was communist and his influence was washing through our territory in the form of leftists and union men. Of course we all know now what a load of bollocks that was.

Living in Australia this didn't wash with a lot of us loyal dubs. Australia has a proud history of unionism and organised labour shaped us. Unlike America which reverts back to its conservatism in times of crisis, we use labour as the comforting touchstone of our identity and egalitarianism is our overiding religion.

The WBTS give the USA a bad name in many ways even amoungst thier own zombified flunkies.

We are amused that in the US the democrats are called leftist to most Australians the democrat donkey is more like our right wing.

If only it were so. I've just lost over 50 pounds and feel hornier than ever. The one good effect of diabetes tablets is seeing the weight go ... After 15 years at weighing around 15 stone i'm 12 and dropping... whooo hoo. I checked the scales in kmart last night for the first time in years.

PS: You may well be right about fasting causing a loss of libido, i just wanted to bragg. (I've been experimenting lately with the theory about you not being able to feel pain in two places at the same time .. bite you finger and stomp on a toe at the same time and see if they both hurt.. ouch ooo .. mmm)

Hey Celtic,

Great idea - fast for 3 days and you might see the baby jesus. I know some Indonesian Pentecostals who swear by it. (they see angels but you never know your luck in the big within)

Did you read my articles on Paul a while back? They hit the deck with little christian responce apart from a couple having thier faith shaken (something that scared me)

Of course the Gospels line up with Paul. Mark, Luke and John were virtually in Pauls employ. Matthew i'm not so sure about but believe he headed north as well. You show little understanding about the life and times of Jesus the Jew.

Please read a good book like Baigent and Leighs "the Messianic Legacy".

Paul was astute enough to resurect Jesus, reshape his image with a large dose of mythraism, matching the Greek gods miracle for miracle, supernatural wonder for supernatural wonder, accomplishing just what his original plan was - destroy Jesus Nazarites influence in the Jewish diaspora throughout the Roman empire. (that didn't stop the ongoing civil war but meant no relief for the essenes holding out along the dead sea at places like Masada)

cheers, unc who doesn't believe Hercules came back, but does believe Paul when he admited making it all up. (early in his letter to the Corinthians where he says he is only interested in Jesus raised as christ/buddha/hercules/kristna/ whatever ;)

I read your original post too quick - obviously real samaritans amoungst JWs are rare and thier behaviour is not encouraged.

As for Paul, what I said is true. In that one little sentence I condensed down the entire issue of christianities ongoing fraud. If you think i was being flipant or without a mountain of evidence to back up what i say you're sorely mistaken. Most public libraries have books about the life and times of judeo/christian thought. I have written long boring articles about this subject but christians either have a paulian epithany or disappear up thier own dogma quicker than a bloke can cry out 'oh lord why have you foresaken me'.

Nothing personal but I can't help but wonder what you're afraid of. Closed mind never won the heart of fair argument. True history is only hidden from those too lazy or psycologically impared to look.

I have found very few exjws do that. Most look long and hard into the true origins of Judeo/christian religion before seeing Paul for the scheming anti-jesus Roman he truly was.

I too see many heavy hearts toiling in human misery and unending pain. Especially Pakistanis sold into Saudi Arabian slavery and Indians trapped by caste and such but, being an eternal optomist, i don't see even thier lives as wasted any more than i see the jovial Australians who died in WW1 as such. I see them released at death to fly back from whence they came or something. I'm not denying that children born without brains or functioning bodies have a pityful existance and it may have been better if nature never had them arrive here in the first place but for the vast majority of us life has enough good going for it to excuse a lot of pain.

miserable wasted lives? i don't get it?

sure, plenty of people live in drudgery and plenty more choose it but for the vast majority of us it isn't that way. I'd go out on a limb and say the happiness rate is higher in India than America and Ethiopians struggling in the Tigran hills have more fullfilling lives than Londoners.

Does a redneck sucking in beers and nitro fumes at the rattlesnake speedway in the Utah desert feel lifes joyful pulse more strongly than a buddhist monk begging rice high up in a Tibetan marketplace? Does my daughter rattling off to work at 7am for a long day shuffling paper have a better life than an Indonesian girl heading out to plant rice for the day?
