the point being, that this is one scam to make money by the borg.
Thanks all for your replys. I'm sure others have some thoughts? Ideas? As to where all the money goes? How about this one....Each and every year the congregations have to make a "mandetory" contribution the the co/do fund, it covers their health benifits and car leases and insurance and stuff. With all the millions the wtbts has stashed, they make the congregations support that expense . Another injustice. Thoughts?

i have a question.
at the beginning of each meeting at the kingdom hall, the chairman invites us to find our seats and be seated.. after we have got ourselves comfortable and all is (reasonably) quiet, the meeting chairman then invites us to stand and sing the opening song.. does anyone else find this a bit strange?
why are we invited to sit, then before we've done anything else, we're invited to stand.. just seems odd to me.
They ask us to stand to make sure the brothers ain't pitchin' tents after all ... on a witch hunt we must go...

those of us who've been around long enough will understand the title.
what we are looking for here are examples of the society's lack of taste.. for example, i'm sure our kingdom hall wasn't the only one in the 70's with dark brown carpeting that rose halfway up the walls and a nice trendy rubber plant in the corner of the platform!.

last night i concluded a very lively social evening by talking with an elder who was enjoying a few late gin 'n'tonics in my local pub.. suitably booted and suited, my dubinthepub pal told me that he had just been to an elders meeting, conducted by the co.. he said that a lot of stuff was only handed down by word of mouth these days.
but, new light that he had just received, was as follows: (bear in mind that we were both pretty steamed by midnight!).
1. elders must call on all dfd ones once a year to encourage them to turn back and where necessary to have their questions answered.

can anybody shed any light on that.

The reason is simple. It is NOT bible based. Its how man [local pawns=elders and elderetes] views it in the local congregation. I did do research on this years ago. Not only, I believe did the borg have little to say on the subject, the bible says nothing about it. Its based purely on local custom and what the |"man" believe to be acceptable in the local house of kult worship. And after having started to grow one at one point, I can tell you I was viewed dimly and given much ridicule by the r&f. It wasn't very loving. The only way I can grow one now is to grow it in the closet. The beard I mean

BTW, I enjoy your short simple approach, and obvious time spent whirring that cd in its drive. Go easy with it though, cause I think that 99 cd may be the last one you see. Cause with the damage the kultist are doing to themselves with their own "word" I somehow think they won't put out another. So make that one last and last.

As you know, I've haven't been to an assembly in years and years.
Since I was 18 and living at home with my parents, actually.
yup, know that quite well.
This is probably niave of me to say, but I didn't know people PAID to go to assemblies.
( besides for food back then, and whatever contribution my parents may have put into the
contribution box, and the price of whatever book was being released. ) My parents never
told us that the had to pay. I know that you have to pay for a 2 night stay in a hotel
room,but what else is included in the thousands of dollars that you said that the
assemblies cost? Is there anything else you would add to the list below?
I think you may be misunderstanding me. Let me clearify what I was refering to.
The amount of money I'm talking about for the assembly is the amount of expenses
the circuit or district expends for the rental of the building, parking and other needs.
I wasn't specifically talking about the amount of money that I pay out of my pocket,
or anyone elses. We are supposed to help cover the cost of these expenses incured
by making a contributiion. What ever that amount is, is something personal between ourselves
and the, well whatever. The amount of money I personaly expend is not important to
me and i wasn't refering to that at all in my disscussion. What I was elluding to
was the fact, and I know both my wife and I noticed this, is that AFTER the food arraingment
was done away with, there was a marked INCREASE in the expenses they were anouncing to the r&f
at the assembly as to what it cost. In my mind, take the food away, you take and expense
therefore costs should go DOWN, not up. With the news of this parking scandel {I hadn't heard
about it before last week} I started thinking. I guess what I'm getting at is we {the r&f} are
paying for the profits derived from these assemblys by means of our own wallets. I dont object
to the fact that it does indeed cost money to run these thing. No argument there.
But this is supposed to be a NON-PROFIT orginization. Guess someone forgot that.
The cost of a 2 day assembly is staggering!
Undoubtedly, just don't ask the rank and file to pay for it and make a profit from it too.
I have my own suspicions, but I don't want to say, till you break it down for me,
if you can.

im not the first to go through this, i wont be the last.. i was raised in the truth as a result of my mum starting a study when i was 4 years old.

Last night I was in such a state of depression I actually

Our storys are alot alike, yours and mine. Although I have no children, I still feel
the pain for those that do. I can imagine what your going through.
Being able to turn here for support, confirmation and uplifting
has been a big help. Keep doing it. I will also. I have a friend I can trust
that I instant message with often. That helps. Its a big help.
Unfortunately that friend is going to be the taker of big emotional swings from me,
but thats what true, good friends are for. Be strong, turn to Jehovah.
Remember its not him where the problem lies. Its with this man controlled organization
that calls themselves his conduit. Over 6 million have been fooled, you wern't
the first or last. We are here for you.
