WATCHTOWER BIBLE & TRACT SOCIETY OF NEW YORK 25 Columbia Heights,
Brooklyn, 11201 718-560-5000 www.watchtower.org
Revenue: $951 million Industry: Publishing CEO: Don Adams Employees:
5,227 (all volunteers); local, 3,000
The Brooklyn print shop responsible for producing almost half of the
books used by Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide will soon complete its
final run. The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of New York printery
that has produced more than 1 billion books since 1927 is slated for
closure now that printing, binding and shipping operations will be
moved to a Walkill, N.Y., location. Walkill's new bindery equipment
will be able to produce hardcover books and deluxe Bibles at a rate of
120 a minute.
In May, Watchtower announced plans to sell the 1-million-square-foot
building - just one of the buildings in the Brooklyn waterfront
complex. "Perhaps this building will be used by others in a way that
is compatible with the Brooklyn waterfront development," said Robert
Alexander, a spokesman for Watchtower. The organization headquarters
will remain.
Watchtower says these changes will contribute to a streamlined flow of
literature to its 12,000 congregations in the United States. The
Jehovah's Witnesses' primary journal, The Watchtower, has an
international circulation of 25 million in 147 languages. -

by minimus inwere you considered a "troublemaker", a "complainer", a "fine" brother or sister?
were you always being called before the elders for one thing or another?
is your reputation the same here as it was in the congregation??

The Society's View of Women
by minimus inthe watchtower society has regularly spoken about the role of women.
the publications have given strong hints that women are to be considered inferior to men.showing special consideration to a female has been expressed as "from the devil" tipping one's hat toward a female in a respectful gesture was viewed as wrong.the may 15, 1952 watchtrower stated the following: "we can be sure [jesus] did not get in any line to kiss the bride either-- so we leave such woman-exalting practices back in the creature worshipping world, where they belong".......did you feel that women were treated as equals or lesser ones in the congregation?

"Whenever I think I have gotten things staight in my mind, my husband will talk to me about some point from the meeting and then I get confused again. He has a great knowledge of the Bible and can run rings around me."
just a thought.

Conkers !
by Simon inliam has been a bit disappointed this week 'cause conkers are all the rage at school and he hasn't had any (apart from a couple his friend gave him).
dylan wanted some as well (but he just likes to 'want' what liam does).
so, i promised them that tonight i'd take both off them to get some.. on a bit of an isolated stretch of road on the way to work, i'd noticed a couple of chestnut trees that were well away from housing estates so hadn't been 'hacked to bits' by local kids.

Did you ever work for a JW, while still in the borg ??? how was the pay ???
by run dont walk inmy nephew has been working for a jw, for about three years, part-time of course, has to do more service, pays him next to nothing, good training and learning experience though, but three years, and paying $7.00 an hour for maybe 20 hours a week, while the employer has a new car, and just bought a bigger house ???
yep, go figure ......................, that's the kind of person i want to work for, and the sad thing is, if he was to quit tomorrow, there are 20 little jw dubs ready to vulture into the job.
unreal !!!.

after a brief 3 year stint working as a service advisor under a jw service manager, i vowed then and will forever hold to it.
i will NEVER work for or with a jw ever again. it sucked the big one.
i saw more law breaking and fraud then i care to admit to.
and....
he got away with it.
never again.
my advice? sweep streets. its better than working for a jw even when it snows and your pushing sloppy wet slop into the drains.
there. i wonder how i really felt ?
