My advice is to google a guy named Glenn Phillips. He is the greatest guitarist to never make it that I have ever seen. Rolling Stone reviews his albums and has called him the greatest guitarist since Jimi Hendrix, but don't take my word for it...google him and hopefully find an audio link and then you can hear for yourself. He is AWESOME!

I Love It When The Words Are Wrong..
by Englishman inmy old boss was forever going on about us being careful "not to set any presidents".. hl's friend's ex-hubby needs some surgery on his knee to have "his cartridge removed".
she's signed an affy-david as part of the divorce process.
meanwhile he spends his time in night clubs watching the cadbury.. jenny, the pub's landlady, took the quiz a couple of weeks back and questioned us about "far from the maddening crowd".

My "favorite" and I am being VERY sarcastic, because it bugs me horribly, is this one:
Supposably....
There IS NO SUCH WORD!
I also get crazy over someone referring to their driver's license as "them" instead of "it"---You only have one, people.
People who go the the "liberry" to check out books drive me mad, too.

Polar Express is an awesome movie, but if anyone plans on taking a YOUNG one, DON'T!
My 4 year old grandson was scared witless the entire time! It was a little too real for him, I think.
The movie is great for grownups tho. Maybe some little ones might like it, but it is VERY INTENSE.

Carefully faded says:
These two are from the same movie:
- "Make 'em work nights!"
- "You're always making things difficult"
I think these quotes kind of got lost on page 4, but I just happen to have these quotes etched into my brain. They are both from Willie Wonka, and they were both spoken by the same character----Veruca Salt. I love this movie, and have watched it alone, with my son, and now with the grandson until I just about have the whole thing memorized! My favorite quote is near the end, when Gene Wilder says....."so shines a good deed, in a dreary world."
I can't wait until the dark version comes out with Johnny Depp. I would love to swim in a chocolate river with that man!

Are you ever surprised at who is attracted to whom here?

I am one of the lurkers. At least most of the time. I just don't always have something to say. I don't care to debate, because I am one of those "people pleasers". The board, to me, is kind of like a favorite tv show. I don't say that to trivialize the lives of the real people on this board, it's just that I kind of stand at the sidelines and watch the festivities. I come here regularly, at least once a day, and see what all my favorite characters are up to. I often get to the point of ALMOST posting, but I will see a new post from someone who said EXACTLY what I was going to say, or I type 3 or 4 paragraphs, read over it, decide it is STOOPID and delete it before I ever submit it.
I do all this because I see people trampled on and ignored every day. Not out of a mean spirit, but just being overlooked. I also see people being cared for and helped as well. I hate being ignored, or being made to feel as if I don't belong somewhere, so I don't take the chance of being the one who is ignored. So my sensitive self just sits and reads (and learns).
I truly enjoy my board experience as a whole. It's like I don't really need to post. I can be a full fledged member, and feel like part of the group without saying a word. I laugh with you guys, and cry with you when you hurt. Even if I never post again, always know that I am out here and whether you are aware of my presence or not, I am always a part of this board!!!!!!

does anyone like indies?
by nowisee inwhile the multiplex movie theaters are running "terminator 3" and the like, my husband and i seek out different fare.
three small independent movies which we recently saw are, "winged migration", about the migratory patterns of various birds -- amazing.
some species travel l2,500 miles each way from north to south poles and back again.

Yes, I love independent films
Unfortunately, my schedule prevents me from seeing a lot of them in the theater
I live about 60-70 miles from Atlanta, so in order to seek out the independent film, I have to make more of an effort that just to get in the car and run down to the theater.
The latest one I saw was called the Journey, a documentary about a young college graduate seeking advice from "the successful" as to what their secrets of success were. It began as a story about the content of the interviews with the famous people who he met, but became more the story of the journey to find all these people, get the journey financed, etc. It was quite good, altho the guy did little to ingratiate himself to the audience. I mostly felt like he was an egomaniacal jerk!
I usually have to catch them on Sundance or on DVD or video. Are there any available that you can recommend???

Thanks, worldlygirl---you are not only worldly--but informative!!!!!!
I have been out of town at a storytellying festival and just got back to my hotel room. Thanks to everyone for the responses, and here's to hoping we find out where these billboards are leading to!!!
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend as much as I am. I am listening to GREAT storytellers at a festival in Roswell, Georgia (near Atlanta) If you have never attended a storytelling session, please do as soon as possible. It is probably not what you think----it is not Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. Many tell true(ish) stories about growing up, some get into characters---it is just hard to describe. My advice is "hie thyselves" to the nearest storytelling session and sit down for a good listen!!! You will be hooked!
