  4th Generation Witnesses and Maybe more ?

  just read a thread about a guy being a forth generation witness and a question came to mind.

  how is it that jw's can rationalize the end being always "just around the corner" when there is soon to be 4th, 5th, and maybe 6th generation witnesses?

  just how is it that the previous generations can continue to follow so blindly after one failed prediction after another of never getting old in this "system of things"?.

  I agree with your reasoning. Just this past weekend I was with the in-laws who are all hardcore Dubs and don't know I know this religion is not the truth anymore.Anyways, they were always making remarks about future projects 10-20 years down the road and always adding rather ritualistically "If the end doesn't come first".

  Hearing such remarks sevral times in the course of an evening can be quite irritating, and I would just add to that "Don't worry you have time for that project". Of course they would look at me with that "How dare you say that look?". And I would just remind them that with the unlinking of the 1914 from the "this generation" teaching in 1995, the end can come next year or in 10 years or in 100 years or in 1000 years. They of course look at me dumbfounded, and I get a chuckle out of it.

  Resurrection Shuffle

  one of jw "beliefs" that was and still is most confusing to me is the condition of married persons after the resurrection.

  in particular, if one marriage partner dies before the big a and then gets resurrected.. its surprising how many jw's hold sacred their own private interpretation on this.. generally i found that if the marriage had been a happy one, a lot of jw's believe if the surviving marriage partner does not remarry, then they will end up back with their dead-but-back-again married partner after the resurrection.

  in a normal sexual marriage relationship.. if the survivng partner does remarry however, the the old chestnut gets rolled out about people in the resurrection "will neither get married or be given in marriage.

  This is all WTS hogwash. When Jesus in Mark 12: 25 refers to those who rise from the dead saying they do not marry but are like angels in heaven, he is referring to those who would be resurrected and go to heaven. There is obviously no sex in heaven! All Christians who have faith in Jesus Christ and follow in his footsteps receive God's Holy Spirit and become heavenly heirs. Jesus never spoke of persons having an earthly hope, only a heavenly one.

  matthew 24:9 "then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake.. .

  jesus or god's name?(jehovah).

  am i right in thinking the jw's use this scripture to,try, prove they are hated because of god's name?.

  how would you try to introduce crisis of conscience to your family.

  it is so well known as oppostate and immediately brushed off.

  Excellent then. Theirs minds are fertile and opened up to reading C of C and Christian Freedom. Present these books as written with an objective point of view with no biast narrating events at the Brooklyn Bethel in the 1960's and 70's (for C of C) and a comprehensive study of Christian Freedom and responsability (for Christian Freedmon).

  the watchtower magazines have a section entitled "life stories" where the testimonies of persons who have spent their entire lives in the service of the organization or bethel are narrated.

  in the september 1st 2002 watchtower magazine on page 25 i found the story of gladys allen who recounts almost 60 years of her life spent as first a regular then special pioneer.

  typical of miss allen but evident in many other of these testimonies, i find that mention is made of wts publications, governing body members, theocratic schools attended etc.

  Typical of Miss Allen but evident in many other of these testimonies, I find that mention is made of WTS publications, Governing Body members, Theocratic Schools attended etc. However, I am hard-pressed to find any reference to how the Bible changed her life, or her love for Jesus Christ.

  I do not by any means put in doubt the love Miss Allen and others who write these testimonies have for God and Jesus, but I find it disappointing that although she spent 57 years following in the footsteps of Jesus, Christ is never mentioned once! (Only the word Christian appears one time in the entire article). And she had 5 pages available to her!

  Instead Jehovah is mentioned a few times, including N. H Knorr, the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses, The Watchtower and Consolation magazines, the Million Now Living Will Never Die book, even carrying the placard "Religion is a snare and a racket". But no mention of Christ.

  How sad that our Savior is sidelined in this manner by the Watchtower Society and the Dubs, allowing our Lord to take backseat to the visible Organization here on earth.

  I have read both C of C and In Search of.... In my situation I can't walk away much as I would like to, I have too much to loose. My whole family and all my friends are Dubs, and getting df'd or da'ing myself would be catastrophic to my family. Rest assured though that as a result of these books and others, including many websites, my faith has cooled considerably. I stopped making monthly reports and only attend Sunday meetings to keep the peace.

  I can't now serve the Organization the way I used to since I now have come to the understanding that this religion is not better nor does it get special treatment than other Christian religion. I also realize that living the Dub Christian way I am being robbed of having a meaningful relationship with God and Jesus. But I'm trapped. I'm trapped.

  a friend on another (totally not related to jw's) discussion board posted this story in response to something i said about getting rid of telemarketers.. .

  a funny story.. .

  one saturday while in my apartment at college i saw three women with jehovah's witness propaganda proceed into the front area of the fourplex.
