A Return to the Basics - Part I
by Farkel inevery so often we get so stuck with specifics and the latest wt scandals or doctrinal nuances that it's good to get back to the basics.
that is the purpose of this thread.
i cannot count the times that, when dubs arguments are demolished with quotes from their own literature and practices, they resort to this statement in sheer desperation: well, at least weve got the basics right.

Humor & Sarcasm
by adonoyechod inin ref to the article about the nwt having clarity of language: great post!
still i fear that there are many other verses out there that are so taken out of their context.
of course we don't all have to be greek scholars or hebrew scholars to know that there is something so very wrong with, "you have greased my head" and while a verse like this can and should be considered peripheral material, in the sense that it has nothing to do with their salvation, there are verses in the nwt that merit, not our laughter, but our serious consideration in light of the fact that they rely so heavily on these false interpretations and alterations of holy scriptures, thus the veil over their eyes.

Cute Farkel. May I suggest you correct your grammer before posting. "What about happened to those kids" makes no sense, and neither does your statement. One has nothing to do with the other, but hey, if that's what floats your boat...

Salvation-The Watchtower's Way or the Bible's Way
by JCISGOD98 inmy bestfriend adonoyechod wrote an excellent message titled humor and sarcasm.
it is true, we must remember the purpose why we are on these message board.
it is not to just to win the argument but to win the lost for christ.

Great Post JC. Thanks For The Intro. I Say we Commit More And More To Prayer Everything That We Post. We Just May Cause This Kingdom Of The WT To Crumble From It's Very Foundation. Remember That The Kingdoms Of This World Will One Day Become The Kingdoms Of God And Of His Christ!

I know that many JW's out there don't like us because of what we do. Our motivation is often questioned and our postings are often met with hostility and contempt. We are not going to be liked or admired for what we do and sometimes we have to run the risk of being hated by those we are trying to reach. That is an occupational hazard and we accept that. But let us never forget that our purpose for being here is to win the lost and not the argument. Recently someone responded to something I posted regarding the Light Gets Brighter This is what he responded: Adonoy, excellent! I can't count the number of times I have myself used Prov 4:18 to explain the "advancing light of new truth." Your post gave me pause for thought about what that verse really means . And, as you say, God has never changed His view of love. Thanks for your thought-provoking post, and welcome to the board, both of you! Craig
Not for nothin folks, but sometimes a response like that serves to remind us of why we are REALLY here and why we are REALLY doing this. Although we are not looking for the praises of men, it feels good to know that something we said found its intended mark in the heart of someone we intended to reach.
Folks, I am all for humor because I believe there is a place for it sometimes, but please let us not get so caught up in it that it looks like we are making fun of people who we know have been brainwashed into the very darkness we seek to help them get out of. May I leave you with a quote from the late Dr. Walter Martin:
I am not above using sarcasm because Elijah gave me my authority for so doing with the prophets of Baal. And when it is necessary it can be an awesome weapon, but I am firmly convinced that what we are talking about among ourselves in terms of how we view these things must never, ever be communicated to the person we are talking to, lest the person interprets our unbelief as somehow or other casting aspersion upon their sincere belief.

Is The "Light Gets Brighter" Doctrine...
by adonoyechod ini have often read, been told, and heard by jw's that the light gets brighter and brighter.
i realize that this particular phrase comes from the bible, but i fail to see it's application anywhere in the nt or ot.
at least in the manner in which they explain it.

Thank You Rev John That Was My Point Indeed. If Jehovah's Witnesses can use the "Light Gets Brighter" verse, then it is possible for anyone in the cults to make the same claim on that basis, the result of which would be a no fault and no accountability doctrine. A false prophet is a false prophet regardless of what background he comes from.

Do They Really Believe In The Trinity?
by adonoyechod inin order to produce a publication such as "should you believe in the trinity", someone had to go through all the extensive material utilized i.e the encyclopedeas, the dictionries and the articles.
seeing that most of the quotations in that publication were taken out of their context it is therefore safe to assume that the "bowl of salad" method was used, meaning that they only picked the parts they they felt proved their point and discarded the rest.
consider for a moment the time it takes to read all the materials needed to produce this publication.

Thank you Rev. I expect as much. Great poem. Definately one to be lived. I understand you know JcIsGod. He's my best friend for many years. Lets continue the battle for the souls of lost men. To quote Maximus Decimus Meridius: "What We Do In Life, Echoes In Eternity."

144,000 pagans or annointed
by JCISGOD98 incharles russell the first president of the watchtower believed and taught that the anointed ones, which are the 144,000 who go heaven, began to be chosen just as soon as the church began, and by the end of the first century most of them were chosen.
the watchtower of february 1, 1975, page 84 reiterated that jehovah god started selecting the 144,000 nineteen hundred years ago.
history tells us that this persecuted church continued for several centuries, so there were many years during which the true church existed and expanded.

To searcher:
And yet another example of making statements and never really addressing the issue. This is becoming a standard operational procedure.
To JcisGod:
Good post. Keep doin' what you're doin' and don't worry about those who call you "Opposer" or when they question your "Motivation" for doin' what you do. We as Christians MUST test all things no matter who it comes from. Stick with the facts and be led by the Holy Spirit who will guide you into all truth. "Onward Christian Soldier"
