These things Prove if Jehovah is guiding and speaking through the JW'S
by Terry in"some times the lord has let his people look for the right thing as the wrong time, and more frequently they have looked for the wrong thing at the right time.

Nice list. Here are a couple more:
The "Faithful slave" has to read about "new light" in the Watchtower, just like everyone else!
I was in Bethel when "New light" was coming out (the generation thing). As Bethelites we could read the magazines weeks before they were shipped. We were told to not spoil it for the congregations by leaking the new light before everyone gets their Watchtowers. One of the congregations I attended while there had an elderly annointed one. Out of curiosity I spoke with her to see if she had any clue what it might be. Nope, she was clueless. Shortly thereafter I came across another elderly annointed gal in my home state while at a DC there. I asked her a few questions to see if she knew anything. Conclusion: The annointed remnant is guided by....... Brooklyn Bethel! The idea that the "faithful slave" i.e. the annointed remnant scatter among the congregations, receives guidance from Jah or has any input into what is published IS PURE BONK!
If God always had an organization to guide mankind why did he choose the Catholic Church to assemble the Bible Canon in the 4th century?
Don't you think he would have used his organization instead??

Debunking the Watchtower - Slam Dunks and Solid Arguments
by Nickolas inthere's a wide cross section of thinkers on this board, representing christian belief and non-belief and points in between, the agnostics.
there is most definitely a minority, mostly silent, of devoted jehovah's witnesses present, too, but their contribution to the dialogue and dynamic of the board is minimal.
that small minority aside, it can be said the people who venture into here to communicate with one another share a common paradigm, and that is the watchtower is built on a foundation of clay.

Hey guys, I'm playing around with these conversation video's that similate the JW mentality. I've had these discussions before and they all seemed to go like this. To me they seem like slam dunks, but we all know about cognative dissonence.
Here's one on blood: http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/7935259
Here's one on God directing the organization: http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/7933701
I'd love a little feed back.

Is JW Disfellowshipping Scriptural?
by minimus inthe bible says to "remove the wicked man".
the scriptures teach that certain things are "works of the flesh".
some verses speak of "marking" or "taking special notice of" if a congregant is "disorderly".. where does the bible teach that a "sinner" should meet with 3 elders and they should hold a "judicial meeting to determine whether someone is repentant oe not"?

I have had these conversation with JW's before. I've gone straight to the verses asked: Who was Paul speaking to? Was he giving instructions to Congregation leaders on how to hold Judicial committees? OR was he giving advice to all members on how to choose their association? Paul refused to make association decisions for others. Sure he did give counsel on association, but he left the ultimate decision up to individuals. There was no Tribunals assembles to cast people out of the congregation. No decrees, no official announcements that congregation and family members are obliged to obey. Just counsel to individual members on how to choose associates wisely - completely at odds with the JW kangaroo tribunal.
This is evidenced in the particular case Paul speaks about. He says essentially that this man is obscene to him. But he issues no decree. Instead he exorts congregants to wise up and make the right choice. Compare that to the JW method where congregants (even blood family members) are TOLD they will obey the decree or face banishment themselves.

Where else will you go?
by wary inthe po comes to see me and talks round the houses trying to find out what my problem is.. so i tell him "look its something i have to sort out for myself and i dont want to destroy your faith and make you start questioning so id rather not tell you".
he already knew cos the first elder went to his house the second he left mine and told him about [what i thought was a private conversation between mates,] my issues.. so he proceeds to tell me a story of a brother he knows who was always very studious and knowledgable about all prophecies and the details of our beliefs.. well the guy suddenly stopped attending meetings last year, dont know why but the po seemed pretty upset about it as he was an old friend.. so he says " i said to him, but john, where will you go now on sunday afternoons,!
and really wary where else will you go?".

Reply: There will always those who will claim to have answers to all your questions so long as you follow them. So if you have a need to follow someone then you choices are many.

How can I help my wife to get out
by Albert Einstein ini am fading out after 18 years in jw cult (pioneer, ms, elder etc ...).
my wife was born in jw family, very strong family bonds, very loyal to jw.
at home we can talk pretty open, but she is so blindfolded, so loyal, not willing to admitt jw could be totally wrong... is there any chance to help her step by step?

I think you need to keep in mind the primary reason people stay "in".
IT IS NOT compelling scriptural arguements.
IT IS NOT a sense of faith or belief in the Bible.
It is the social universe that has been created by the group. JW's fulfill a powerful human need for family, friends and community. Displace this and you may just gain your wife back.
If you really want to be successful the best way is to relocate away from the influence of her present social universe. Start over by rebuilding her community apart from the JW's.

If you're looking to time a purchase then I would wait. I can't speak for the rest of the country, however I wouldn't buy on the west coast unless it will cash flow. By cash flow I mean a net positive return after all expenses including loan costs and a modest downpayment.
For decades property values have followed very closely to simple, stable ratios of price-to-income and price-to-rent. Beginning in 2002 they departed significantly from these standard measures due to an artificial market fueled by excessive lending. Prices now have come down, but they still have a LOT more to go to come back to these historical norms. Additionally banks are holding lots of property off their balance sheet. If they were required to mark these liabilities to the current market there would likely be a flood of additional homes coming to the market as banks feverishly try to maintain minimum capital ratios. Add this shadow inventory to the already excessive inventory and you should see a greater correction of the great credit bubble. And since most markets over correct you are likely to get a much better deal if you wait. The risk you run by waiting is that interest rates increase. This is more likely as the US tries to finance increasing levels of debt.
