  Spooky true story

  i heard a very bizarre fieldwork story today in an anthropology talk.

  a female graduate student in the late '90s gave one of her professors a tape she recorded of her encounter with one of the "swamp people" in mississippi.

  he put the tape aside and never listened to it until after she graduated but when he did, he was utterly amazed.

  during period that the gospels were written jewish and samaritan apocalyptic sects revived the ot character joshua as the archetypical agent of salvation and conquerer of jewish enemies.

  there in fact were groups that could rightly be called "joshua cults" that centered upon these apocalyptic anticipations and the character.

  some would be liberators of the first century imaged themselves after the ot stories, reinacting the joshua story in some detail or promising to do so.

  You know, silly me, I never thought until now how a stereotypical dub would have viewed the freaky tape I listened to. No doubt, they would think it was possessed by deemunz!!

  Yup, college is no place for a faithful dub.....Satan and deemunz lurk in such unexpected places!

  That's a intriguing thing re Philippians 2:9-10. I honestly hadn't noticed that before. When I have time, I would like to examine what some of the critical commentaries have to say on this text.

  Did You Live A "Double Life"?

  were you one of those that acted pious at the hall but elsewhere, behaved as someone not a witness?

  Man, I really hated that "double life" bs rhetoric. Made ordinary people seem so shady and deceitful in just trying to SURVIVE and get by....

  gespro.....Jeepers, creepers, well if you know anyone who knows or might know some elderly person who can speak a bizarre ritual dialect mixing Patwa and Native American words, with some Spanish or even Catalan thrown in, I know someone who'd be very interested in meeting him or her. I know one guy in Cuba who goes to Palo Monte rituals to hear this broken Yoruba that the priests speak.
