What is that e-watchman site all about?

is the bloke who runs it an ex jw or what?

in one breath he praises the watchtower, in the next he's tearing them apart.

whats the deal with it?

I think his deal is he needs to feel important. So he found a scripture that he applied to himself and then started preaching what he believed. I think that he expects too much from prophecy - I mean, he just wants to show off how smart he is and how he can "interpret" prophecy.

So he maintains the platform of moral righteousness by claiming to be a great JW, but he is sharp, harsh, condemning, unforgiving - I had a few email exchanges with him that revealed him to be a very pharaisaical and Old Testament kind of guy.

Plus, he refuses to identify himself, which must drive the Borgmasters crazy. If he ever slipped up and revealed his identity, he'd be out on his ear and he knows it.

I think he is motivated by a certain concern for his brothers, and thinks he is doing them a favor by confronting "apostate" dogma.

So he wants to think for himself, and he wants to think for you too.

did anyone else read about alicia eborne the 18 year old jw girl from devon who is now suspected of being abducted.

tragic, i hope she's safe somewhere, but hope appears to be fading.

my prayers are with her family.

note that i'm talking about a state visit, not your run-of-the-mill political scenario.. state visits from visiting presidents, kings and queens involve open-top parades through pall mall next to queen lizzie in an open landau, several nights in the best suite at buckingham palace, soldiers and guardsmen in full regalia and banquets galore until the excellent food pops out your ears.

that's a state visit.

i don't think that we've had a full state visit from a us president since jfk.. now, our good friend george dubya is expected for a state visit next week.

Well - I don't know if it's legal, but here is what I think happened.

The WT purchased this property and then resold it for the SAME amount to its lawyer, and financed his purchase of it along with these Lehrer people.

It sounds like the Lehrer's wanted to open a vineyard, so this lawyer friend of theirs agreed to go into business with them. However, they needed a cheap mortgage, especially in the wine industry, which has high overhead. Ergo, this lawyer friend of theirs pulled some strings at the WT, used funds to buy this property, and then essentially filled out an IOU to the Society for the amount, possibly on favorable terms. Are the terms available, as a matter of public record?

It's possible that this is a kind of retirement package to the Lehrers. Has anyone heard of them? The name sounds familiar.

I don't know - is this guy retiring and using WT funds to mortgage a property in California?

That's what it sounds like, or maybe he is getting a free mortgage as part of a payment for legal work for the WT - a kind of blackmail. Probably illegal, or should be.

I have a hard time blaming the Watchtower

so it was very hard to accept as an adult, that they were wrong.

What I think the problem is - we are having trouble distinguishing between blame and responsibility.

When we assign blame, we decide who is at fault, who is guilty. The blame or guilt, for the WT's irrational life, can be spread 100% on the WTS and parents for children in dubdom. As those children get older, they assume more of the blame until it is probably 50/50 between them and the WT. Some of them rise in position and power, and thereby are assuming more guilt for themselves individually, especially as they see the truth behind the smoke and mirrors and yet still propagate them - some of the dubs at the top probably have close to 90% of the guilt, although a certain percentage must still be assigned to those who drew THEM in.

As for who is responsible for improving your life from this point - well, the instant you have the complete truth about the troof, you are 100% responsible for your own life. Before, you probably split the responsibility with those who conned you into the WT.
