according to this article, the end of this particular war was the start of a strong bond, now known as a special relationship between our 2 countries.
http://www.napoleonguide.com/campaign_1812.htm.
and, ever since that date, the special relationship between britain and the usa has been totally fair and balanced with both countries giving and receiving in exactly equal amounts.. .
the Royal (disfunctional) Family?
I do need a housekeeper. The czarina is pregnant as hell and doesn't feel much like cleaning.
I'll trade you one Jessica Simpson and I'll throw in Nick the remora.

Hey, who represents the Lollypop Guild around here? Screw that, who represents the Margarita Trust?

i've been re-reading it again and i'm definetly getting more out of it the 3rd time around.
i wonder why that is....
Many times. I'm a speedreader - the habit is so ingrained I can't stop, so I tend to miss a bit here and there. But going back over it helps me get the nuances - the dialogues, etc.

for those of you who are not stunned thinking "where has all the time gone?
", what would you say about the decade we've now in?
do you think world conditions are worse than in the '90s?
I think that people will look back only remember the date of 9/11 - and that we went to war afterwards and won, like the Spanish American War with the Maine and invading Cuba. They won't even remember Iraq as being anything other than an interlude.
The SECOND half of the decade will see the rise of the Anti-christ.

i've been faded for almost four years now.
i've decided in the last month or so that i would really like to treat myself to a small tattoo.
i'm going the conservative route and plan on getting it on my lower back - so it can be seen when i want it to be, but also easily hidden when necessary .
I have a huge rattlesnake curled around my left arm and shoulder. I have to get the other spirit guide on the other side soon, I'm feeling unbalanced... hur hur hur...

mine is the red sox winning the world series.
Finding out the czarina was pregnant.
Absolutely without a doubt the most mindblowing thing I can imagine.

ok so maybe i'm being played but believe it or not, i just got a letter from the president, that's right, the president of the united states of america!!!
he was thanking many of his constituents for supporting him in his campaign.
and get this, unlike the the problems that are resulting from donald rumsfeld's not taking the time to sign the letters, notifying their loved ones of the soldiers deaths, this appears to be written out in his own personal handwriting.
Got one today - it is certainly a printing of a handwritten original. It was still a nice touch. Even nicer was the note at the bottom: Not printed at taxpayers expense...
But Sheila IS from Texas; maybe she actually knows somebody that is somehow connected to the Bushes?

in the pretty miscellaneous "global flood" thread there were a couple of exchanges on the value of "apologetics" per se.
i think this subject is worth a thread of its own.
i will here recall some statements in the aforementioned thread:.
For a true believer, no proof is needed, for a skeptic, no proof is sufficient. Thanks for your comments. I have enjoyed reading them.
Then I suppose that I am not a true believer... although perhaps my "proof" would be insufficient for you.
I myself suppose that I am not a Christian, per se - the Bible is a useful book, full of rich metaphor, interesting intellectual exercises, profound moral truths. But if every "historical" event in it were disproved tomorrow I would not feel the need to throw it away; I think that my faith is different from that.
But do I believe that Christ lived, died, and lived again? Yes, I think it likely. That is a reassuring thought for ME. It's the most important thing in the Bible, for me. It gives me perspective on everything else. Have I had the "meeting" with him that so many others have had? No. Nor would I know how I would react if I did. The encounter might get violent as I dispute with him over his long absence.
Nor do I insist that all believe as I do; although once on this board it was described as a "useful kit of survival tools" that has sustained me though much. Even a mirage can serve a purpose by providing hope to those lost in the desert. Of course, the disappointment if it really IS a mirage might be overwhelming. However, I think that it is not. Because nothing is being asked of me save what I know I should be doing already: surviving (easier now than it has been), being a good husband, neighbor and father (soon). No special effort, no preaching, no evangelism, no holier-than-thou charity (although I have a couple I send a few bucks to when I can), nothing, really, except what I really want to be anyway.
If God made man in his image, and man has ten fingers and two hands to do things with, then mayhap religion and enlightened humanism are but two different fingers on different hands being used to accomplish a great and harmonious work?

Now it's interesting to see how people feel good about it and can think that it have been written by the president himself
Soooo... how do you feel about Chirac?
I got a letter from Bush once - it made reference to things I had mentioned and looked like a real signature - I dunno, maybe some letters are real and others are forms...
