i woke up to snow this morning.
we have had another major rain storm, with flooding and all the "benefits" of that, yesterday and all night.
when i got up a little while ago, i saw the ground covered with snow, and it is still coming down.
Glad your mom is doing well.
We had snow here last week, in PA. Means a hard winter if it showed up before Thanksgiving, as cruzanheart said.
It's pouring down rain today, which means when it gets a little colder, its going to be snowing like a giant dandelion.

there's a girl in my math class at community college who...omg she is such a hottie.
a babe-alicious babe.. i am very inexperienced in these matters, i guess you could say i'm relationship challenged.. how do i approach her?
she seems to struggle a bit with the material we're covering in class, and it comes pretty easy to me.
Get drunk and talk religion, have sex, then talk religion some more. It worked for my czarina and me!
My only assumption is that women like complicated men.
Of course, the czarina is a magical creature from another dimension, so maybe it doesn't apply to earth women.

in relation to the "six year old" post by countryguy, i wanted to write about children and the troof.. the jws have absolutely nothing to offer a child.
all they have is books.
young children don't like reading books in their spare time, or can barely read at all.
I liked the Bible story cassettes. They were a good way to introduce children to a cultural treasure, the Bible.
The drama tapes were the BEST. The Society had such a winner with the dramas, I can't understand why they stopped them. It's the thing that EVERYONE still looks forward to, I don't know why they've dumbed them down and sped them up and modernized them so much.
I want to see men in striped robes and fake beards chasing each other around a golden calf with wooden swords, dammit! I want women turning into salt and fake snakes crawling across the stage!
It's harmless fantasy, and it's good for at least an hour's worth.
The Society is like, "Why are you wandering around the halls when there is such good talks going on?" Well, turn the talks into dramas, and you won't need to send the Kendolls around with signs saying ,"Sit the hell down and shut the hell up!"

massachusetts backs gay marriage the us state of massachusetts has ruled in favour of gay marriage.
the state's supreme judicial court ruled that that barring same-sex couples from the benefits of civil marriage was "unconstitutional.
I'm a republican and I say, let 'em get married, and then they can enjoy the benefits of alimony payments and divorce rates and rebellious teenagers and trying maintain a picket fence when you've got a dog...
I'm sorry, I can't understand why they want to get married so bad, but if they do, let 'em...

a certain christian uses threats to "witness" to a public school committee.

science standards committee taken aback by creationist's e-mail.
I'm not paying taxes to have the Moral Majority fundamentalize my kids. Nope. Not gonna happen.
I'm not opposed to a religious survey class - but if you teach the Christian myth, you must teach all the rest and present religion as it really is - mankind's spiritual evolution (hahaha) as we search for meaning in the face of our individual death.
I think that evolutionary education has a long way to go. This thread should be required reading. I mean, polished up a bit. However, scientific education is fairly general in every case - and is meant to spark individual research on the part of the student. So, in the science classroom, creationism is simply not a valid enough theory to present to kids - it pretends to be able to have all the answers in a twelve page photocopy.
turn about is fair play! If we are going to go into all of science's many failures, than how about if we discuss religions many failures to provide moral guidance in times of crisis? Hm? The Crusades, the Inquisition, the witch burnings? And I don't mean just a historical overview, I mean, grab a minister, stand him up in front of the class, and hammer him with questions about where God was exactly at that moment and why exactly he let each and every baby die, and if He cares so much about abortion why doesn't He do something about it?
Evolution science is a series of questions about where and when and how we came into being. Creationism pretends to have all the answers already. Parents can teach that nonsense if they want to, but I'm not paying for it.

i think it's getting a bit much.. please remember that while we dont mind some discussion of current affairs, we are not intending to be a political discussion forum.. i'm getting especially tired seeing some people making insulting and dismissive remarks and just posting dogma and propaganda.
worse still, it seems some people are *only* interested in posting on political threads and nothing else.
let me make it clear - that is not why we're here and if that is the only reason that you are here you will find the number of posts you have will be limited.. this of course goes for both sides.
we've forgotten how to debate in this country, too (although I fess I have no clue how it's done in England)
I've seen it on Parliamentary broadcasts while I was in England. Two guys stand at podiums, facing off, with their supporters behind them. Every time one of them says something clever, their supporters grunt in unison. Sometimes, when the clever remark is too offensive, the opposing team will boo.
That's kind of how it works here. Two people start squaring off, and the rest either cheer or boo in support of their side.
I just enjoy having political opinions so much - having been forced to sit to the side for so long - that I get excited. If I've ever said anything that's overly offensive, I apologize. I respectfully submit that I assumed, from experience, that the rules about mudslinging were more relaxed on political threads than others. It is the excitement of debate that gets me going, and maybe I'm not too good at it, having little experience in either having opinions or defending them. Maybe we should have an official political question every day, one that everyone can chip in on???

i tend to be a pretty wild soul.
i have eaten the grossest foods.

The DEMONZ!
I hate being alone. I get edgy.
When I'm alone in the woods, I get freaked out beyond all belief. I tend to panic over things like snakes, animals. I can't breathe, I think the world has ended and I'm the only one left and I will wander the woods for all eternity until something kills me.
I'm just really glad I never got sent to Vietnam.
I think that the fear I'm describing is the origin of the word "Panic" because Pan was the god of lonely places and of the wilderness within the soul of man - and the Greeks called my fear panic.
