  Just be careful because if you put in too many "hours" - and you're a male - you may get appointed for Ministerial Servant (tm).

  I recently spoke with a guy who does something a little different: he and his girlfriend simply stand at the door without ringing the bell - they may fake it - and after 1 hour, without breaking a sweat, they have 2 hours each on their slip. Isn't that beautiful?

  When the householder naively catches them at the door they hand him a Watchtower/Awake! as a punishment for his lack of attention!

  WT Squelches Congrefational Address Lists

  for anyone who doubts that paranoia amongst the denizens of dubdom is greater than ever, consider this: in years past jws used to distribute copies of phone/address lists of the members of the congregation for the convenience of the friends, and these were periodically updated.. lately in my area, however, requests for a current list were refused, with the explanation that it would be ``imprudent to keep such a list, as it would compromise the brothers' /sisters' identities were it to fall into the wrong hands."".

  is this ban now oganization-wide or just a local phenomenon?

  i would suspect the former.

  It's unbelievable how the same pattern repeats among JWs all over the world. In Brazil I faced once a similar situation. I needed a list not of publishers but congregations addresses and was told the same BS: persecution makes it unadvisable to make such a list, believe or not!

  Very interesting topic! A quick suggestion though: the title should have reflected the content a little better. I almost discarded the thread.

  I would like to add that, according to the Lord Jesus, it was the Slave who would serve the "food", not the Governing Body. And it is exactly the GB who does it. Furthermore, the WT entangles itself even more when it says that the GB acts as a spokeperson, when in fact what it does is the very elaboration of the "truths". Very contradicting!

  It may have been with this book that Joseph Rutherford started the whole "religion is a snare and a racket" campaign. This campaign was quite successful with many around the world walking with placards such as those shown in the Proclaimers book, pg. 568, attached to their bodies.

  The "religion is a snare and a racket" slogan is repeated for some 10 times in the Religion book alone. "Religion is a snare of the Devil and the Devil's associates and is operated as a racket against the people".

  Here are just a few samples.

  As you can see, especially from page 178, God's wrath is upon "all religion, and particularly the so-called Christian religion". (underline mine)

  Well, as time passes, things change! Look at this full-page ad in The New York Times from the Governing Body. Specially look at the block of text just below the title.

  Wow, things have really changed! Now, the Society begs the world to be recognized as a "Christian religion".

  Since God does not change, we have to conclude that it was the Watchtower Society who changed its mind.

  Is the Governing Body, in effect, saying that "Babylon, the Great" isn't that bad, after all? Have we fled prematurely?

  The Watchtower Society and JWs are definitely unrecognizable!

  Single DF Sister Looking for Single DF Brother

  I did not realize that a DF'd person could not associate with another DF'd person - I thought that as long as they were not engaging in any wrong activity with one another there was no problem. Interesting...

  So who are you supposed to associate with? Or are you just supposed to spend all your time alone reading the bible?

  That's why we think you are in the right place. Here, one can get real insight into this cult religion. Not only that! Just look at the number of replies to your post and you'll see how many good and unbiased advices you get around here.

  If you haven't done that yet, give James a call; he's a nice "elder".

  Christ's return is NOT invisible!

  one of the principal teachings of jws is that christ's return was invisible in 1914. this, in my mind, is one of the strongest proofs that they ignore the bible and instead devote their lives to the false teachings of a man-made organization.

  mt 24:30 - "and then the sign of the son of man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in lamentation, and they will see the son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

  " mt 26:64 - "yet i say to you men, from henceforth you will see the son of man sitting at the right hand of power and coming on the clouds of heaven.

  just wanted to let everyone know that you all have a new friend!my name is christopher from verona italy,and even after loosing friends.

  and my girlfriend of ten years over my studying and putting to practice the bibles values,i realise now that it doesn't matter beacuase i am so happy that i found the truth and jehovah loves me!!

  !....i am still going through a changing period but every day is geting better and i will soon be baptized.i always new that there was someting seriously wrong in the world when i was leading a very imoral life,even though i have been succesful in work and have made plenty of money i was never happy but did'nt know what it was until i met a brother..i hope to find lots of new friends here,so please everyone don't hold back!

  Hello everyone,

  I'm not new to the board since I've been following the stories here for quite a while, but I'm new posting here.

  For about four months now I have exposed the Watchtower stuff on that website. Unfortunately I'm not able at this point to tell you much about myself for identity protection but will soon be doing so.

  I was a JW for more than twenty years and am Brazilian, and found that there was a need for more info to be available in Portuguese. So I decided to translate into Portuguese stuff that I find to be significant.

  Brazil is the third country in number of JWs (Mexico being the second but closely followed) and I thought there would have to be some exposure to all these developments in the WBTS world.

  Once again much thanks to Larry for the great pictures.
