Amazing,
your "% diff" column needs revising. Just as an example: the number of partakers. Given the number of partakers for 2002 and 2003, the percentual of decrease is 2.226%.
The same goes for some others rows.
Take care.

blueblades posted the 2003 service year report.
the watchtower society makes it appear that they grew 2.2% (which is lower than some of their earlier percentages) ... but the way they present the data, does not reveal the truth.
[note: the chart below is the smallest i could get it ... sorry for the inconvenience.

first of all, i would like to thank everyone who responded to my first posting regarding the hidden images thing.
i will admit that, after re-reading my initial post, i sounded like some sort of a paranoid alarmist, and i really did deserve the flack i received from some of you folks.. let me just say that there probably isn't a single x-jw who doesn't feel as though they have been duped to some degree with regard to the so-called "bible truth" they received while serving the organization.
many x-jws firmly use the terms "manipulation", "fear", "deception", and even more .
Hunyadi,

Now you sound a little more reasonable. But remember, whatever you look for in these pictures you most likely will find it.
You may want to carefully read what a guy here nicknamed "gamaliel" wrote in this thread about this subject: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/56369/1.ashx
This poster seems to be knowleageable on these matters.
Take care.

feb 15 watchtower: apostates - guard against deception
don't you wish this were the real title of the 2nd study article?
well, it is, minus the word apostate.
An interesting part of the article is something that the WT says more often than not:
on paragraph 6, the writer says: "they reject the visible part of God's organization". On the other hand, it says on paragraph 10: "we will not abandon the organization that God is pleased to use, for we see the clear evidence of his blessing upon it".
Why, this makes no sense to me. If the Organization is God's, there is no reason for him to be "pleased" with it, is there? Much less there is a reason for him to shed his "blessing upon it", right? It makes no sense to bless something that BELONGS to you!
I don't bless my own computer, or my own car or... whatever. I can bless my wife's computer, though, if I believe it will accomplish or it is accomplishing something commendable.
So, the boys at the headquarters sometimes get lost and don't realize how inconsistent are some of the things they say.
Have you also noticed this before?
Thanks, Truthseeker, for bringing this out.

up until a few years ago......every dec. km had a part encouraging everyone to go in the ministry on the holidays.......christmas day, etc.. no one ever got too excited about it in our cong.
.........it was pretty much a joke to everyone even when commenting on it during the meeting part.. that no longer seems to be the case..........haven't seen any parts like this for a few years now......i guess they've given up completely.. the meeting part usually included some "fine experiences"......but i have heard exactly the opposite from some who actually tried it one time.. have any of you ever went in service on christmas day?
I remember when I was little and the publications were charged for, I would sell place a lot more magazines on the holidays. The idea is that people were more receptive. As I grew older I started gradually to realize what an idiot I was by being a good-time spoiler.
Hopefully I got a little wiser
Garybuss, when I read your posts I can't help start laughing. Thanks for the good laugh.

i am a disfellowshipped brother and have never had a problem with the organization's doctrines.
i am, however, deeply disturbed at the undeniable use of hidden or subliminal images in the illustrations of the wt publications.
there are so many that it cannot be interpreted as anything other than a deliberate pattern.
seattleniceguy,
Actually, I think the use of overt messages in pictures is far more effective. I think a site showcasing some of the more ridiculous of those would be pretty cool!
I couldn't agree more!

Welcome to the forum!
With all due respect... you have a real good deal of imagination!
Interesting enough, the same illustration of the "Knowledge" book where "same sex couples" embrace themselves is presented by an openly gay member of this forum to show that the WT is trying to convey some kind of (homesexual?) message. Unbelievable! Again, with all due respect.

If you keep saying often, looking hard and searching, searching very hard, they'll become really "undeniable" to YOU.

i'm starting this thread to post some of my articles that originally appeared on a jokes thread which should probably better appear in the "bible research & study articles" folder.
so here goes...... what was the sin, or sin(s) that sodom & gormorrah was judged for?
the original account in genesis actually does not say.
Leolaia,
I didn't read your second article, but the first one is interesting! It's amazing how much we infer at times.
Thanks.

silent lambs just sent me this.
i thought you all might like to read it.. http://www.silentlambs.org/newsletter/newsletteritem.cfm?sendoutid=157 .
i would love an opinion.. vicki
As for the newsletter, I really think Silentlambs needs a more "PR" conscious writer that can say what needs to be said in a more palatable way. As it is, the article lacked balance, is angry and resentful. Perhaps rightly so, but I doubt it is helpful in reaching a broader audience with their message or in helping abuse survivors to focus on positive feelings and directions in life.
I agree. And besides that, I had a hard time trying to make sense of what was said. They need someone who can put two words (or two phrases) together and make them actually readable.
Their support of abuse victims is commendable, though.

Bonezz,
thanks for bring this up. Don't apologize for it. I once took a training where we learned that when working as a team, every little tiny bit of info may help to compose the final puzzle's picture.
We may have a big deal here.
Wouldn't it be nice to have this guy posting here with us? Lorris, why don't you suggest him to join the board?
Thanks everyone.
