Not me.
But I'm a victim of something equally horrible: was a virgin until 24 years of age. Boy, do I regret it!
By the way, thanks for sharing your stories.
yep, i did.
i got 'privately reproved' after rushing to the elders to confess my sin after losing my virginity via fornicating.
i think all that shame and guilt and legalism that flowed on from that experience must've f*cked me up a bit, scuse the pun.

it struck me this past year, with respect to jw teachings about the timing of genesis 1, that even in things that really have no impact on what most jws think of as "core doctrine" the watchtower society sticks to its traditions over what the bible says.
this was again brought home in the september, 2006 awake!
17 between me and the sons of israel it is a sign to time indefinite, because in six days jehovah made the heavens and the earth and on the seventh day he rested and proceeded to refresh himself.
What is interesting about the account in Genesis is that in some languages, such as Portuguese, there is only one word for "sky" and "heavens". So, when one reads the account in a language that have both words, the problem becomes even more apparent.
"No principio Deus criou os ceus e a terra"

AlanF, nice to see you again! Yes, the subject is really fascinating. Observador.
finally, someone in holland (where floods weigh heavily on the collective subconscious) has built a 1/5 scale model of noah's ark.
this proves that noah built the original ark.
if noah hadn't built the original ark, how could someone build a 1/5 scale model of it?
With this type of logic, you're gonna make a lot of people here laugh really hard. :)
Thanks, that one was really good.

for 18 months i have been at loggerheads with my wife over the wts.
she has been the perfect watchtower slave even declaring that she'll never leave the truth.
i decided not to interfere in her life, attacking the society, and the idiots in the hall, but recently things have changed for the best.
Not pushing the other partner but, instead, letting time pass and being patient is the best approach to pulling someone out.
It worked for my wife too.
It goes like this:
wife: "I'm going to the meeting tonight."
you: "Do wanna a lift?"
15 minutes before the meeting:
you: "hurry up honey. You may get late."
wife: "ok".
She'll get so tired of and confused about your non-resistance that after several months....
you: "hurry up honey. You may get late."
wife: "oh, I actually got a headache. I'm having a horrible period."
you: "ok. Don't bother about dinner. I'll cook tonight, ok?"
And the family will start living happier ever after.

hi.. is anyone aware of the latest kingdom ministry article concerning the memorial invite campaign??
apparently, it says something along the lines of ......once this memorial season is over, our chance to praise jehovah will be gone forever..........is anyone else aware of this???
an end to door to door work????.
Zico (or anyone else),
you don't have to scan it. If you simply type the paragraph into a post here, it will be enough for people here to see and analyze it.
Thanks.

the latest from brooklyn ( my mate in upper management ) i thought id share.. .
the watchtower is remaining bi monthly.
instead of both monthly offerings sharing same formats there is a change coming into action soon.
"look how special and exclusive we are, we get lots more information than just the regular public gets!"
This can backfire, though. When I was a JW, for many years I entertained the idea of having exactly such an arrangement because of how ridiculous it is to offer bullcrap articles (aka "deep spiritual truth") for the general public.
But then I would always rationalise that what is good for us is good for the public and, besides, we are an "open organization", right? So, now, having one mag for inside comsumption and another for outside comsuption could make some braincells to think and start questioning.
I certainly hope that happens!

who's up for lunch?
since she's going for bbq that night, i asked her if she'd like tex-mex for lunch -- which might mean a pilgrimage to ojeda's or pueblo arriba.. check your calendars and let me know if you can join us for lunch!.
cheers,.
Too bad, I can't join in.
Too bad, too bad (shaking head in resignation)... :)
I'd love to meet her someday for a quick chat.
Wish you all a good time.
watchtower 2007 3/15 is very unusual.
it is titled (when freely translated) "how coming of the christ affects you?".
in the first article there is not speaking about 1914 or invisible presence.
The first lesson in a hypnosis class is to say things that makes absolutely no sense, so that the conscious mind cannot follow.
The Watchtower seems to be trying to hypnotize 6.5 million of their own people. When they come back from the hypnotic state, they'll give Jah glory for such a wonderful experience even though they were just abused once again, and...
... will completely forget what they ever believed.
