Let me tell you what happened to me: when the change in the "generation of 1914" came out, I thought that the GB was being overcautious; after all, there still were a few of these people alive in 1995. Even today there are some people who wonder whether or not the "generation" has really passed (see http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/91759/1.ashx).
But as the time passed, I realized how clever WT had been. It threw the "generation of 1914" doctrine out the window BEFORE IT BECAME AN EVEN GREATER EMBARASSMENT.
It would take me about six more years to finally break free.

the 1975 debacle left the fds scrambling for explanations for the mass exodus of r&f who were disillusioned by their bs.
the pat answer has always been, "those people didn't keep pace with god's chariot" and they weren't "strong in the truth" and allowed something so "minor" to "stumble" them.

Get that Drama about "No College" into the hands of a child custody judge

just finished reading the posts on this years drama, about timothy "pioneering" and how youths should not go to college.. it is crucial, if you are helping any parent win custody of their children from their jw parent, that you get a copy of the drama on dvd (someone stated it would be released at the end of the summer) and get it into the hands of a family court judge.. the wt already has a booklet about how jw parents and children should respond in family court, over custody cases.
they use twisted reasoning and scripted answers.. this dvd will expose their lies and evil maliciouness..

Very good comments, everyone! Nice to see different points of view.
I wanna tell you one thing: I made it clear to my family that I don't want to have anything to do with JWs anymore. It was a powerful statement and had a profound effect: My sister signed up for Regular Pioneer. :( She's clearly trying to make a statement, too; something such as: see? I am spiritually strong...
In the end, I think I made the right decision because she will eventually get tired of it and may see how foolish being a Regular Pioneer is. Time will tell.
I don't think that faking is the right thing to do, but I emphatize with people in situations different than mine.

we need to examine the earliest known descriptions of the kind of crucifixion adopted by the romans and the specific terms they used to refer to it.
apparently the society believes that crux still meant "stake" in the second century a.d., when tacitus composed his annals.

I think this maybe a small step towards getting rid of the disfellowshipping practice (?).
The next step would be - 10 years from now - "Is it not so refreshing to know that Jehovah's organization is so compassionate so as to extend mercy even to those who don't want to associate with us any more. God's people may have misapplied some key scriptures in the past, but, even then, that has proved to be to their advantage."
I don't know... "Jehovah's organization" is so clever, so clever, that we don't really know what that will mean a few years down the road.
I don't think they'd introduce changes to the disfellowshipping practice in a single strike.

New and need a question answered before I post any other questions
by soundbox_guy inokay, first off, let me get this straight...you guys are all witnesses, some all active, some do things all the way right, some don't do things all the way right?
some are by the book but not preachy, and some are witnesses that are rogue and do things their own way?
i just want to know before i post any doubts or concerns or anything because even though i know we're supposed to stay away from places like this on the internet, i don't want what i say somehow getting back to my congregation somehow and next thing you know 4 elders come busting through the door waving "no blood" cards and shouting "freeze, jehovah's witnesses!

JW College Girl Getting DF'd For Going To Mormons For Love
by minimus inthe new talk in the hall per my mom is that a twenty something year old sister is getting disfellowshipped because she's been attending the mormon church because she found a nice mormon boy that is interested in her.
since there are no jw eligible men around, she has gone over to the other side and will pay for it with the announcement soon.
