  Pat Garza passed away :(

  just got a call from lisa,

  lisa suggested that if anyone would like to express love to atty it would be appreciated to send a contribution toward atty's last expenses.

  lisa will be at atty's apartment for another 3 weeks, more or less, to clean things up.

  I am sorry to hear of Pat Garza's death. My condolences goe's out to her daughter, family and friends.

  To acknowledge that its been a long haul for Pat. I had the privilege of meeting her at the SilentLambs March in Brooklyn, New York. In September 2002. I was deeply touched by her story. And what strength and courage to be able to stand up. And to break the silence. like my 6 year old daughter said 20 yrs ago. "That secrets eat the heart away~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~".

  I believe Pat was abused. She dropped a huge boulder(her story) in the middle of the lake and the ripples of it are still being felt today.

  May she rest in peace with the ancestors.

  A loss of Life, A tribute to my nieces....

  thirteen years ago my nieces were murdered.

  today is a hard day for me, remembering the phone call the shock and pain.

  Interesting I lit two green candles (7:00 am) before coming to the board to honor the losses I am experiencing today. I saw your thread and my heart aches for you and your family. I am sorry for the losses.

  I will continue to burn the candles for the day. The color green is for healing .

  Grief is dealt in so manys ways. There is no right or wrong to work with grief. Its ok to honor those losses you are experiencing. To acknowledge them in your way. Its okay to honor and share your grief here.

  This a baited thread from the get-go!!!

  Interesting my mother(nonjw) asked me if I was a feminist? Because I was standing up for myself and ending marriage because of domestic violence. Not taking crap anymore. And coming from her. The woman is to take it!!!

  Now I come from the other side of the coin to dispell my shame. I was ridiculed for the lack of phyical beauty in my growing up years. Having ones self ripped a part over time because one did'nt look right. the self esteem and worth were worn away. Because I thought it was true. Its taken alot of work on my part to change that image.

  Those messages can be damaging either way. Whether one is beautiful or not so pretty.

  Yes I am a feminist a dyke that wears army boots, baggy pants and muscle shirts and chew gum.

  I am definitely work with social change for children and women and equal rights.

  I am sad that kind of mentality exists.

  And may I see a picture of you, mecurious?

  Is the Watchtower a form of addiction?

  hello.. this morning i glanced at the jw calendar for this month.

  it has one of those spreads about how becoming a jw improves your life.

  you know the type of thing: "when i learned from the jw's i was able to give up smoking/boozing/drugs/coffee/chocolate/naked bungee jumping etc etc".. i wonder if maybe the reason some people have these experiences is because, by becoming a jw, they simply replace one addiction with another?.

  Those who have addictive personality has a tendency to glum on to religious structures to be in or have control over their lives. And to be in a place where one does'nt deal with their feelings. Its all mapped out for that person.

  I do have a addictive personality have been through the chain alcohol, drugs, and the last addiction cigarettes. I hit bottom with the smokes (3 pks). It boiled down in not wanting to deal with my feelings.

  And using a religious structure is no different. I've seen that with people who I have been in recovery and needing to fill that void.

  I don't see myself falling into another structure I was badly burned by the org. If it had been otherwise so engrained with that system. That I possibly be prone to enter another structure. So I would not have to take care of myself.

  I think the whole issue is pretty complex. I know enough to know I don't want to go there.

  It's okay if need to go away to lick your wounds and to honor your process. You are not alone and to come here to share your feelings when its okay.

  i passed the accident late last night, a dark winding road, right past the college and then a bar.

  yes, i wondered as i slowed what happened, is anyone hurt?

  upon looking closer i saw a sheet draped so one could not see what the paramedics and firemen were doing.

  Yes its devastating to come upon a scene like you witness. Than to find out latter its people you know. How it lingers with you. My condolences goes out to you and your children. As children the thinking is being invinsible and no harm will come.

  Yes the reality puts a different perspective on life. A matter of seconds one's life can be snuffed. I see the many senarios over the years working in the ER with accidents. I am aware of my mortality working with it everyday.

  I appreciate what you had to say. Needing reminders to live our lives.

  wisconsin: in the town of ogema:

  two brothers, robert and benjamin moore, were shot to death august 30, 1995, and copies of an online police report show some believed perhaps a jw relative murdered them and early on allusion was made to the watchtower teaching that those who die before armageddon can be resurrected to live forever.
