Crazy as this may sound, I don't have any regrets. I've done things I'm not proud of (both as a Witness and non), but in the long run I've learnt from the experience. It has helped form the person I am today... and where I am today.

What Regrets Did You Have Because You Were A Witness?
by minimus inone of the biggest regrets a person might have is that they let their children become involved in the whole jw "thing".
you know---everything from the elders always cornering them to "investigate" something or even having the parents "turn in" their own kids......is there anything that you especially regret?

What Is God Doing?
by Satanus inwhat can you point to right now, that god is doing?
if he is maintaining the universe, can this be scientifically shown?
if he gives life to the newly firtilised egg cell, can that be scientifically shown?

Rem - I make a positive assertion that Zeus (and Santa, etc.) do not exist.
Whoa, whooooaaaa - now you're attacking my beliefs !!!!
Actually, everyone is practically one book, one God away from athiesm/agnostic beliefs. Christians do not believe in Allah and the Koran; or the Book of Mormon; or Hinduism & the Vedas; etc. Likewise, a Muslim does not believe in Jehovah and the Bible. They don't need "reasons", they just do not believe. Its not a leap to understand where an athiest is coming from. They do not believe the whole lot.

- Sounds to me like she is free -
Free from the Society's "rules".
Free from her marriage to you.
She is not allowing the religion to have any power over her. Why should she answer questions regarding her personal life? To play by some religion's concept of "scriptural divorce"? She does not owe you anything.
You are the one choosing to abide by the Witness religion. That is your choice. You are choosing to be bound by the "scriptural divorce" doctrine hindering your freedom.

I believe in Santa Claus (tonnes of evidence), elves, the Tooth Fairy and Ogopogo.
God told me this morning that He was planning on having his beard shaved.

Are We Powerless To Beat The Watchtower At Its Own Game?
by minimus inthe watchtower tries to slander and abuse anyone not on their side.
anyone that disagrees with them, "runs ahead of jehovah".
we are called "apostates" because we dare prove why the society is wrong.

And then when I personalize it (my daughter again) it makes my blood begin to boil, and there you go, you're giving them all that power over you all over again. So, I don't know, what do other's do to keep from having this dilemna?
Onintwo - thanks. My sis and I were talking this morning (she's out also) about how lucky we are to have each other and be FREE from the JW's. How happy we are, and we wouldn't trade it for anything!!! I appreciate my freedom. We have family "in". Pioneer siblings that won't talk to us (over a year), parents that do keep some contact in "secret". I feel for you with your daughter. My approach has been to keep the door open. I write to my siblings every few months and let them know how I am, what I'm doing, how happy I am. I let my parents know I'm an adult and they don't have to agree with my decisions. I'm hoping they'll one day "wake up", but they may never. Its their choice.
Your daughter right now is making her choice. Emotionally its tough, and there is no easy answer to keep from the dilemna or from getting upset by it. Having an emotional response is not giving the WTBTS "power". You have a right to feel any way you want without apologizes or feeling they've "won". Your daughter will see your life... hopefully your happiness and love. That in itself defeats the Watchtower because once you reject "the truth", your life is suppose to fall apart and you're suppose to be an emotional mess.
I don't know you or your daughter from adam - but relating to my own experiences, let her go. Let her make her mistakes. Just love her and trust that it will all work out in the end.

I fight back by living well, not allowing them any power over my life and not accepting their "labels". They do not accept the label of a cult, and I'm not an "apostate"

Debunking the Skeptics
by Tashawaa inhttp://www.abc.net.au/centralvic/stories/s1006138.htm
i thought the above link provides a good argument for those who doubt "his" existance.
sometimes we get so caught up in the "science" - we forget that with him "...anything is possible".. imo, i'd still believe due to my faith and evidence - there are the writings, personal experiences, songs, miracles, plus he has touched my heart..

Expatbrit... you may have shot one, but you can't get them all! Santa's heritage is Catholic and there are a number of them (generations) at the N Pole. How else do you think him & the missus keep warm?

Why Christmas is so important
by metatron inyears ago, we used to wonder about bible studies and why they fought so hard to resist giving up christmas.. it just seemed that many people were willing to face all the negatives about becoming a witness - except this one.. why?
it's simple.
friends and family!.

"plus the obligation of an imaginary , door to door 'ministry' to occupy their time."
Metatron... bang on. This comment hurt - I spent a good portion of my life devoted to the "real life" of door knockin'
I will gladly spend Christmas Day with the imaginary Santa and past (bless their hearts) pagan beliefs, with love and family... than my life devoid of love and family in the servitude of an imaginary God at war with an imaginary Devil.
