  personally, i consider myself as a "soft-atheist".

  i don't believe in god but i keep an open mind and if someone can come with a real proof of god's existence, i'll take it.

  for now, i consider that believing in god, is just as silly as believing in santa claus.

  You're making a jump from God to morals. I'm assuming with your statement that without God, there would be no moral, no morals = no laws, and therfore a breakdown in gov't. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

  Your first assumption is "no god=no morals". Guess what? The two are not related dependant upon each other.

  The "bible God" lacks morals. If we relied on him for our sense of "morality", we'd happily condone genocide, slavery, killing of children/women/elderly/animals in war, blood sacrifice, etc.

  Please don't tell me you think agnostics and athiestics lack morals/ethics.

  You actually bring up a good point. "I think, therefore I am". One simplicistic concept that we've all heard. YET,

  those with multiple personalities ... do each of these personalities exist seperately? I have witnesses a person with this disorder (for lack of a better word) and there is no question, when one personality changes to another.

  Things exist. Something wanted us to exist. Otherwise we wouldn't exist.

  If there had been no turbulance, it would have stayed isotropic (the same in every direction), and there would be nothing. This doesn't work because if there was nothing, there could not be something to disturb nothing. Some one or something disturbed/messed w the primordial filament,

  Okay, if there was nothing, then there could not be something to mess with the primordial filament. Nothing can come out of nothing. 0 times 0 is still 0.

  For me, this is the essence of the initial question. The assumption made is "nothing" existed first. Who says? Why couldn't there always have been something, and nothing NEVER existed. Based on the "something came from nothing" theory, the "something" is God. And to explain how this God (something) came from nothing, isn't explained. Its just stated that he "always" was. There was no beginning to this "something". So with either theory... nothing never really ever existed.

  in the past this would've been used by jw's in the ministry and from the stage to point out how all chirstendom is corrupt.

  now, given the recent pedophile issue with the wt, do you think they'll use this?

  OMG!!!! Talk about a flashback

  If I heard that a JW was smoking, alcholic, swearing - ANYTHING that did not live up to our "reputation", I use to say "They weren't really Jehovah's WItnesses!"

  It was the only way I could cope with the hypocrisy. They all had "bad heart conditions."

  jws will say they believe in a resurrection of dead humans to earth (the most ancient to be abel, son of adam) after god destroys wicked mankind in armeggedon.

  they use the word ?resurrection?

  The resurrection use to scare the s**t out of me, starting from the time I was 5 years old. I think my first question was "how will you know its me????"

  Especially, when I'd hear in talks (did it ever go to print?) that we might not be resurrected looking the same? So not the same body. No soul. Somewhere in my mind I knew that some clone would get to enjoy forever, in my place, while I'm DEAD.

  I was suppose to just "trust" in Jehovah, that we're in in memory. Yah, but how? PLUS the thought that this cloned "me" wouldn't be able to marry or have kids....

  Out of all the religious afterlifes offered, the JW concept one was the worse.

  JW's and the question of alien existence

  it seems to me that jw's do not believe in the existence of alien beings as the bible has nothing to say on the matter.

  everything seems to revolve around the planet earth and the possibility of there being alien life is considered to be apostate.

  sounds a bit like the oppression that galileo received from the catholic church when he suggested that the earth moved around the sun and not vice-versa!.

  Why am I being haunted by JWs??????????

  in my 46 years i have known a lot of people.

  only one time did i become involved with a jw-and that for 3 years.

  since we broke up i find myself constantly confronted with them in both my personal and professional life and i can't figure out why.

  Interesting and weird...

  I only run into one (on the street) since I left. Its been 2 years.

  BUT, for the last year, I either hear or see the word "Thailand".

  Its like I can't escape this word. Before this last year, I NEVER heard it - now its like, 3-4 times a week, and in the most unexpected places and people.

  Is it "serendipity"????? Who knows? Hopefully you have no lessons left to learn associated with the witnesses.

  For having a meal in a resturant with my sister.

  She had DA'd herself, and she was living with me. The elders said that eating at home with her was OK, but not in public.

  the witnesses teach that jehovah created man to "live forever" in a paradise earth.

  this was lost to man (i'm not forgetting eve .

  so his dying wasn't from eating from the tree of good and bad, it was from not eating from the "tree of life".. adam & eve were not created to live forever.
