Midweek Meetings no longer Necessary

i am sure we have all seen the recent letter to the boe concerning the change that will take place to the meeting arrangement during the week of the co visit.

to recap the basics: the meeting that usually contains the cong bible study (book study) and a co talk will be discontinued, publishers are encouraged to use their family worship night that week to cover book study material.. so here is a point that i think has been missed, or not even considered:.

if that particular meeting is hereby deleted from the schedule, the co and his wife will never ever have to participate in or go to another "book study", or "bible study" night again.

Incidentally, NSWTG, the final straw that elicited my exit from WT was due precisely to the unjust, political, lying, WT Company Man tactics of a Circuit Overseer !! There was a lot that led up that point, but in the end, it was his actions that exposed the WT and it's appointed men for who and what they are.

I hear what you're saying, NSWTG, but here's my perspective:

I am a fourth generation JW. I have relatives who've been CO's, DO's, Special Pioneers, highly influential elders, etc. Hell, as a teenager I used to sit in the same room with Fred Franz and other GB members at District Conventions ! I'm not saying this to brag, I'm saying it to establish that I know what I'm talking about, I've seen things- lots of things. In my 40+ years as a JW, I can recall one, maybe two, COs that I feel genuinely cared for the flock. The rest? Company men! I've seen some of these nitwits do the most unjust, unloving things to the R&F in order to protect an elder or cover WT interests. It may seem unfair to paint all COs with the "same brush", but I'll tell you from experience, a genuine CO is a very rare exception, not the rule. The entire system operates exactly as designed.

A CO officially represents the WTBTS- not the local elders, not the cong., not the publishers. The CO's primary job is to make sure the WT's interests are served first and foremost, and that WT policy is enforced. Additionally, the one CO I mentioned above as being genuine??? He 'retired' from Circuit work early because in his efforts to be a good man by being "more concerned about people" than company (WT) policy brought him truckloads of grief. He couldn't take it anymore so left the Circuit work.

If you look only for opinions that match your pre-conceived ideas you won't learn much. Step out of your comfort zone and listen to those that have seen a thing or two.

@ Magnum: We used to hear that the Congregation Book Study (meeting in small groups) was essential to our spiritual well-being

I guess, logically then, in the 1900 years from Jesus to modern-day WT, every Christian was simply S.O.L., since no "Congregation Book Study" arrangement existed. Imagine Jesus having to reject millions of Christians for "spiritual weakness" because they had no WT meetings to attend. You'd think he would've seen that coming ahead of time.....

Here's how things work:

If Joe Average JW Publisher misses a meeting during the CO's visit, he's "unfaithful", "spritually weak", and "unappreciative" of Jehovah's™ provisions.

If the GB decides to permanently cancel that same meeting, it is now a "loving provision".

What is this new Announcement to take place in August?

he told me that there is another change to be announced in august.

he didn't know more about it.. any other info?.

And September's WT Study Edition will contain the article: "Sticks- A Loving Provision of Jehovah™"

Followed by November's Study article: "Toilet Paper and Flushing Toilets- Deadly Snares of Satan".

The extra night during the week is being lovingly provided by the FDS, so that the CO and his wife can get a job go out to dinner and a movie and financially support themselves bill it to the cong. as a weekly visit "expense" like the Apostle Paul regional corporate managers do.
