IMO there was a major problem with genetic mixing back then.

There's not a shred of evidence to support such a claim. There are, however, plenty of fanciful musing from ancient goat herders about such matters.
i must admit i can at times be a little "egotistical" when it comes to knowledge and the bible.
i have studied the bible for so long and have always had a passion for the bible as a jw and as an ex-jw.
i guess that is all i have left when it comes to religion and as humans we do tend to stroke our egos.

i think we are already living in the age where there can be no new religions.
we have access to information like never before and anyone claiming revelations of something new and starting a whole new religion can easily be discredited.. christianity and islam may continue to subdivide but i think we've pretty much seen the end of anything new in terms of a new belief system.. .
what are your thoughts on this?.
We have access to information like never before

Access to information, facts and evidence rarely sways the mind of the religious devotee.
they key to free yourself from the organization is having mental clarity of what is happening in relation to the watchtower, inside and out.
their basic concept is that they are god's sole organization on earth.
there really is no basis for anyone to make that statement.
I think this quote sums up what, in essence, changed my thinking:
"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."

The Dakota's had the right idea too:
Old Dakota Indian Proverb: "when you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount".

Richard Dawkins summed up the god of the OT more succinctly than anyone else:
.
“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it, a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” - Richard Dawkins
how much did your congregation and its bank account get taken for?
share your horror story!.
@ earthfire:
It is true that the payments never go away.
It is NOT true that WT has lowered the expected payments. The new "donation" amount is to be equal to, or greater than, the previous loan amount. That is specifically stated in the BOE letter.
If a congregation's monthly pledge falls short of the promised amount, the elders are instructed to bully the cong. via talks and remind them to fulfill their promise.
(Incidentally, 'fulfilling your promises' applies only to the rank-and-file, NOT to WT itself).

Obviously none of these JWs have figured out they'll never see their money again. So sad.

Apog, I was being facetious. I understand what you are saying.
It'll be interesting to see how all this works out and what the true story is.
I think what many are reacting to here is the fact that WT is using more heavy-handed corporate bullying to get what it wants, whether it is bullying JWs or "worldly" people. The "new" donation arrangement being a prime example. It's understandable if the first reaction may be to not give WT the benefit of the doubt, especially since this man made his concerns known and had a "gentlemen's agreement".
If the JWs who gave him assurances that his concerns would be honored were disingenuous or hasty with their promises (not "counting the cost"), it is not unreasonable, when those agreements are not honored, for whatever reason, that people assume the worst.
who would have thought that enough people would raise their hands when the resolution was put before the congregation tonight?
based on the pledges that the publishers put on those little pieces of paper, the congregation is promising the wts that they will send $1,000/month to support the society's building funds.. there is a traditional monthly shortfall of about $100 with the basic monthly bills usually around $1,000.
i didn't raise my hand.
@ Mary: here's the "new"arrangement as per the BOE Letter:
Contribution boxes: As noted above, on May 1,
2014, each Kingdom Hall should have only two types of contribution boxes, one
labeled “Local Congregation Expenses” and one labeled “Worldwide Work.”
• What should be done with existing “Kingdom Hall Construction Worldwide”
boxes or boxes set up to accept donations for a local building project?
These boxes will no longer be used for accepting donations in support of
Kingdom Hall or Assembly Hall construction. They should be removed or relabeled
to accept donations for the worldwide work on May 1, 2014.
----
Publishers are to write on slips of paper what they will contribute to the AH and KH funds per month, in addition to the other WT funds and monthly cong. expenses.

@ Apog: It's just that it's embarrassing to be a part of the forum when people play the mountain out of a molehill game.
.
It's all a matter of perspective, Apog. In this case, a molehill- the Kingdom Hall- is blocking the view of Jim's mountain. He has a right to be upset.

@ designs: I have had Fundamentalists tell me it is God (their god) who alone decides who will live and die by his hand and that decision is always just.
This is the standard answer when god's actions are so morally offensive that a person has no rational answer to justify it.

@ booker-t: "If Jehovah is so all loving as people believe, then why did he save animals over babies?"
Oh, it gets worse. Remember Jehovah's "solution" to fixing the problem of the Canaanite's practice of child sacrifice?? He ordered the Israelites to wipe out entire towns- which included the killing of all the animals (apparently they were just as guilty as humans for some unspecified sins) and the killing of ALL the children.
Jehovah™ claimed to be so completely offended at the very thought of child murder, yet his "solution" to correcting the practice of child murder was to murder all the children.
