"sure like someone will want to drive 5 hours to the convention just to sit and listen to an hour public talk then drive 5 hours back home.....there is no point to inviting people to something that they would never attend".

....i think there may be some hope for my friend..... yes its a 5 hour drive from where i live to the convention site....im being begged to go even if i just sit in the hotel room...fun for me!.

I made that comment among some JW friends and one couple said that they had invited somebody who actually made the drive and was seated near them at the convention!

I think there's hope, for a few reasons:

1. "Was out with JW friends at a bar" (JW friends at a bar is almost an oxymoron)

2. "overconsuming"

3. making critical statements about the Org's campaign

If JWs are honest, even they don't want to be at the convention.

Misquote in the Creation Book

my dad came into the jw's because someone studied the "creation" book with him.

it pains me deeply that he sent me an e-mail recently saying that to keep the peace with my mom, he will stop communicating with me as much as possible.

i should communicate with him only if i have an emergency.. it upsets me to no end, but i cannot do anything or much about it.

Then why ask for individuals in the Prescott area to identify themselves to you, Joe? You don't see why some may be leary of doing that, especially since you are brand new here?

Real reason for new arrangement

i apologize if this has already been covered, maybe someone can post the link.. what is the real reason for the society forgiving all loans for kingdom halls and just giving the money for new ones?.

It's pure semantics. WT hasn't forgiven any loans.

"Loans" have simply been relabelled as obligatory, set-amount monthly "donations" equal to or greater than, the previous loan amount.

Why? Most likely to avoid legal liabilities under the previous arrangement. By all accounts, it's also resulting in a one-off windfall for WT through a plundering of congregation savings accounts.

Peloyan's advice to me personally was to just forget about the “Creation” book's problems and just focus on what the Society does right.

If only a JW being judged by a Judicial Committee could successfully use the same argument.....
