  ok in the effort of full disclosure, i have had a couple of drinks and recently experienced a circuit assembly and a bad experience with a co.. i don't know where to effing begin.

  first of all the circuit assembly was a joke.

  half the assembly was about pioneering and selling your soul to be a no-pay salesman for the borg.

  Only two?? I admire your self-control after a day like that.

  The bitterness and disillusionment in the Org. will only intensify as reality sets in. As the hateful rhetoric escalates those JWs with a couple of still-functioning brain cells will not be able to take it anymore. Only the most ascerbic people will feel at home in WT Land.

  Two points of entry for the Dallas Convention?

  i got this second hand from my wife, who got it from her mom.. .

  apparently, there will be two points of entry to the convention.

  Apparently WT and JWs do not "trust in Jehovah's™ protection" as much as they claim to.

  If he can't do anything to protect them now at something as benign as a convention, what do they think he will be able to do for them in the Great Tribulation® ??

  Real reason for new arrangement

  i apologize if this has already been covered, maybe someone can post the link.. what is the real reason for the society forgiving all loans for kingdom halls and just giving the money for new ones?.

  The government can and will when justified.

  The reason the WT went to a donation-only arrangement for literature is because the government filed suit against Jimmy Swaggert by determining he was operating a taxable enterprise under existing laws. WT supported Jimmy Swaggert in this case, and when he lost, WT immediately discontinued charging for literature so as to not suffer the same fate.

  The WT has not charged interest on loans for several years now. They quit for the reasons skeeter posted above.

  Also, with the new arrangement, the WT has turned what were fixed loans with a payoff date in view into payments that have no end. The "donations" that the congegations obligate themselves to in lieu of their former loan payment are, for all intents and purposes, permanent.

  The reason the congregation publishers do not understand the arrangement is because they are read only one of the three pages the letter contains. The elders are under strict orders to not fully disclose all the information to the congregation:

  "This postscript should not be read to the congregation, and this letter should not be posted on the information board."

  As per the BOE letter outlining the new arrangement:

  "What amount should be used for this new resolved monthly donation? The elders in congregations currently making loan repayments would likely propose a resolution that is at least the same amount as the current monthly loan repayment..."

  The do not call list

  i have posted before about my experience trying to get on the "do not call" list.

  despite repeated requests, a phone call to the hall and mailing a letter, and then giving a copy to a jw, they just keep coming by.

  i was going to put up a no soliciting sign, then i can call the police on them, but my husband doesn't want me to do it.. so, i decided if they come back i would have some fun.

  "To be disfellowshipped, an apostate does not have to be a promoter of apostate views....If a baptized Christian abandons the teachings of Jehovah, as presented by the faithful and discreet slave, and persists in believing other doctrine despite Scriptural reproof, then he is apostasizing. Extended, kindly efforts should be put forth to readjust his thinking. However, if, after such extended efforts have been put forth to readjust his thinking, he continues to believe the apostate ideas and rejects what he has been provided through the 'slave class', then appropriate judicial action should be taken." (Letter to all Circuit and District Overseers, 9/1/80).

  BY definition, any thoughts that do not agree 100% with the GB/WT/ "faithful slave" constitute "apostasy" and can lead to DF. In practice, this happens when a JW questions the legitimacy/authority of the GB or questions a WT doctrine.

  Note in the above letter excerpt a JW can be convicted for thought crime, not for actually promoting a differing view.

  Note: "apostasy", according to WT's definition, is disagreeing with WT on any subject.

  What if you were a JW during WWII? Would you give in to Hitler and fight?

  so i pose this question to everyone.

  if you were a jw and lived in germany in wwii, how would you deal with the harsh cruelity of hitler?

  would you join his side so you may have a chance to live (meaning you'd serve in the miliatry and be on the front line) or would you keep on serving god and be executed?
