the JW 1914/WWI connection doesn't make sense

jws always touted wwis beginning in 1914 as evidence that the kingdom was born in heaven in that year.

i was told that since satan was cast out of heaven, he started stirring up trouble on earth - like wwi.

but theres one problem with that wwi started some months before oct 1914 (the month when the kingdom was supposedly born).. i asked jws about that in the mid 1980s, and i was told that satan started wwi before oct 1914 to divert attention away from the birth of the kingdom.

You bring up some excellent arguments, Magnum, but unfortunately such simple logic will make no headway with a JW.

To your point, had nothing happened in 1914 that fit WT prophecy, and life went on normally, I'm sure WT would have argued that WW1 DID happen...."invisibly".

Even if we show a little humor and accept WTs explanation as-is, the bigger question becomes: how completely inept is Jesus, in that he's supposed to be the new most-powerful king of the new most-powerful government in history- yet no one notices the event and his opponent easily diverts attention from him and wins the day?

In true WT-style, they've figured out how to inconvenince large numbers of JWs, then call it a "test of our obedience to theocratic direction". The JW propogandist at 6:00 minutes shows that his cong. is right next to the northern MARTA station- but the GB has directed those brothers to travel 25 miles to the other end of town to use the southern MARTA station instead. Nicely done, WT !!

15 nights of entertainment and 18 sight-seeing tours are scheduled for the three convention weekends.

By my count:

if death is the payment for one's sins, and a person lives through armageddon and beyond without dying, how does that person pay for their sins?

how would a jw answer that?.

Point taken. However, the WT has historically frowned on mixed couples dancing because, as everyone knows, it often leads to impure thoughts, spontaneous dance floor fornicating and worst of all [gasp] enjoyment of life. I predict before the next round of conventions WT will receive "New Light"™ and mixed couples dancing will no longer be "scripturally acceptable"™.

I preemptively posted a video of a solo dancer in anticipation of the above stated "New Light"™ revelation that's in the Theocratic pipeline.

"Shimeys" (downward or upward is irrelevant) will also be re-branded as "brazen™ conduct" and similarly be categorically banned, convention or no convention. The 2014 conventioneers should enjoy this enjoy this final orgy of dancing while they can, for it is going the way of CT Russell.
