18 U.S.C. 1725 states: "Whoever knowingly and willfully deposits any mailable matter such as statements of accounts, circulars, sale bills, or other like matter, on which no postage has been paid, in any letter box established, approved, or accepted by the Postal Service for the receipt or delivery of mail matter on any mail route with intent to avoid payment of lawful postage thereon, shall for each such offense be fined under this title" "TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 83 > Sec. 1725" Legal Information Institute It appears that violation of this provision is an infraction, carrying a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual, or not more than $10,000 for an organization. "TITLE 18 > PART II > CHAPTER 227 > SUBCHAPTER A > Sec. 3559" [defining "infraction" in subsection (a)(9)] "TITLE 18 > PART II > CHAPTER 227 > SUBCHAPTER C > Sec. 3571" [establishing fines for an infraction in subsections (b)(7) and (c)(7)] Legal Information Institute See also:"Domestic Mail Manual - D041 Customer Mail Receptacles" [especially section 1.3] United States Postal Service

This kind of advice is a predictable outcome when janitors and window washers run the show. Dumbasses.

DocHouse: The WTBS teaches nothing unbiblical that I know of.
The WT Society has openly admitted it goes beyond scripture, then mandates these rules/doctrines must be followed:
"A basis for approved fellowship with Jehovahs Witnesses cannot rest merely on a belief in God, in the Bible, in Jesus Christ, and so forth. Simply professing to have such beliefs would not authorize one to be known as one of Jehovahs Witnesses. Approved association with Jehovahs Witnesses requires accepting the entire range of the true teachings of the Bible, including those Scriptural beliefs that are unique to Jehovahs Witnesses" (Watchtower, April 1, 1986, p. 31).
.
In a "Questions from Readers" column in the 4/1/86 Watchtower, the organization provides a list of doctrines that a person must adhere to in order to remain in good standing among Jehovah's Witnesses. The list includes more controversial doctrines not found in the list a student must believe. Two significant ones are:
1. That there is a "faithful and discreet slave" upon earth today entrusted with all of Jesus earthly interests, which slave is associated with the Governing Body of Jehovahs Witnesses (as of 7-15-13, the Slave is The Governing Body).
2. That 1914 marked the end of the Gentile Times and the establishment of the Kingdom of God in the heavens, as well as the time for Christs foretold presence.
It is common for these particular teachings not to be advertised to newly-interested persons, because they are the most difficult to accept. Yet, as the article asserts, adherence to these doctrines is essential to remain in good standing.

the biblical definition of "faith"
Sure. Go to the Bible to get the Bible's definition which "proves" the Bible to be correct.
Maybe since I'm a Newy the site limits me to only 10 posts, making it VERY hard to reply, sometimes...
It's seems to me, then, that the best course of action would be to make each of your ten posts as effective as possible by offering substantial material to consider. But you don't.

why Jehovah's witnesses? not yaweh witnesses?
by purrpurr inthis i never understood, the publications say that gods name translated from hebrew is yaweh.
why add a whole bunch of letters and vowels that change the sound of the name completely?
i've often thought surely we would gain greater respect on the ministry if we used a name that is historically and verbally accurate?.

DocHouse: "why Jehovah's witnesses? not yaweh witnesses?" Dumb question.
No, actually it's a very good question.
And I see you've offered nothing in the way of an intellectual explanation as to why it's a dumb question but simply retreated to the position of the weak by attacking the questioner instead of actually addressing the question.
DocHouse- are you a Jehovah's Witness?

I believe they do. That's why WT's biggest dickhead is the spokesman.

the publications say that gods name translated from Hebrew is yaweh. So why not use that name?
Actually, WT goes further and admits that the true pronunciation of YHWH has been lost forever, but likely it could have been Yahweh (doesn't say much for god, does it? Couldn't even preserve his own name in his own book?).
---
About the 13th century the term "Jehovah" appeared when Christian scholars took the consonants of "Yahweh" and pronounced it with the vowels of "Adonai." This resulted in the sound "Yahowah," which has a Latinized spelling of "Jehovah." The first recorded use of this spelling was made by a Spanish Dominican monk, Raymundus Martini, in 1270.
Interestingly, this fact is admitted in much Jehovah's Witness literature, such as their Aid to Bible Understanding (p. 885). This is surprising because Jehovah's Witnesses loathe the Catholic Church and have done everything in their power to strip their church of traces of Catholicism. Despite this, their group's very name contains a Catholic "invention," the name "Jehovah."
Jehovah's Witnesses blast orthodox Christendom for "hiding the name of God" by replacing "Jehovah" with "the Lord" whenever "Jehovah" appears in Scripture. They charge this is a Jewish "superstition" that dishonors God (which it does not). Yet their own organization has a name that was invented as a result of the same thinking that produced use of "the Lord."

*** w50 12/1 pp. 472-473 An Open Letter to the Catholic Monsignor ***
".... We do not say that "Jehovah" is the correct pronunciation of God’s name...However, if you call it shallow scholarship for the Committee to use the word Jehovah in the New World Translation, then you will have to admit that it is due to the shallow scholarship of the Roman Catholic clergy of the thirteenth century, for in that century the word historically appears among them... the Spanish Dominican friar Raymundus Martini wrote his Pugio, about 1278, and used the name Jehovah."
So why does WT use "Jehovah" instead of the more accurate "Yahweh"? Tradition !!
Insight vol. 2 p. 5, Jehovah
"Jehovah" is the best known English pronunciation of the divine name, although "Yahweh" is favored by most Hebrew scholars

Trademark office rejects Watchtower's application for "JW.Org" logo
by AndDontCallMeShirley inhttp://tsdr.uspto.gov/#casenumber=85896124&casetype=serial_no&searchtype=statussearch.
even though watchtower's application has been rejected, they will be allowed to use the logo because it is for religious usage and will not be confused with commercial products.. the trademark office did note this:.
indeed, numerous other marks are registered reflecting the letters j and w:.
